I have premium version of this app and I desperately need the accompanist like this but while playing the score, tempo and swing go out of control, especially in newzik webpage, but ipad app also has same problem but relatively lesser. I’m a former musician (non-professional- out of the music world for over 15 years) and recently joined a serious music group. Lots of music to learn in a short period of time. I wanted an app I could use on iPad (and not fumble with tons of loose sheets most use in rehearsals. I only have the free version, but the app has been a tremendous help!… until today. I updated my app only to find the piece limit has been shortened from 15 all the way down only 3. :( I understand the impetus for profit, but the paid version should be promoted based off its own additional features, not by making the free version worse. GREAT APP!!
This app truly helped me with my music. I play trumpet and whenever I get sheet music before I even look at it, i scan it with the camera. I think it is so great to be able to listen to your music before you play so you know how it should sound. This app also comes with helpful features like a tuner, metronome, and you can even record yourself and add that as the sound to the sheet music. However one suggestion, sometimes the metronome for sheet music is not all that great, it switches tempo on its own even after being changed. But other than that this is a great app, totally recommend!

Good but with some improvements needed
In general it s a stable app. But with the upgrade now one can no longer be logged in two machines at once. It’s annoying to always have to relogin. I use one machine for work and one for home. Why can’t we just stay logged in? Also would love to use two iPads together like ForScore allows for two pages at a time. Still have to relogin when switching iPads. . Contacted help with no response.

Fast with great collaboration tools
I used forScore a while, but got tired of how slow it became, how hard it was to share work with myself across devices, how much storage it used up, and most of all subject to data corruption issues. I got tired of losing tons of annotations carefully added to scores every time the tiniest update came out. Current version of Newzik doesn’t have all the annotation bells and whistles of forScore but it’s got enough I don’t seriously miss any. I work as a staff accompanist, and Newzik has made my life so much easier! No more binders, no more stressful noisy page turns—I have hundreds of pieces organized into set lists that I can just carry around on my iPad. iRig Blueboard compatibility and automatic backups of both the pieces AND my annotations are other favorite features. And the customer service is unbeatable. Due to a user error on my part last week I couldn’t access my account, and despite being way over in Paris (CA is my home) they resolved the problem right away, right in time for my next performance. I love the features. I’ve not found any music reader that is better. Each time I find something new, I think “of course, why didn’t I think of that?” I’ve used all the major score readers except forScore, and I’m glad to spend the money for a life-time purchase. However, not everyone can afford it. The only thing preventing a perfect 5-star (for me) is the cost of the full purchase and the lack of more collaborative features without “subscribing” and paying monthly. (Small septets and trios can’t afford to keep paying monthly in order to collaborate…and many poor musicians hesitate to spend

Easy to use for non readers as well as easy to configure with Irig Blue board
I got this because I am performing singer/acoustic guitarist who has been in the process of updating my songbook to my iPad mini. I’ve used a few competitors apps with one that I’ve even subscribed to that I’m regretting now. The reason being that neither was very friendly with the Irig blue board. I’m not a user manual kind of guy and was able to configure the app with the Irig blue board and figure out how to import files within an hour. I thought because my iPad mini is older (2 generation) that I was having compatibility issues with the other apps. This very well may have been the case.

The BEST for singing scores
I’ll admit, I was looking for a free app that would help me with annotating pdf scores downloaded from IMSLP. A friend was using a similar app but that one cost money so I saw this and figured I’d give it a try. And let me say, this is SO much more than I would have expected. I can easily add and remove annotations, add custom colors and line styles to help me see those annotations, and one of the features I love the most is being able to move the annotation bar up and down over the page and to then move forward or backward in the score from that bar rather than exiting to the main interface,

This app came highly recommended and, despite the fact that it is not free, I had decided that if it was half as good as it looked, I would purchase it to replace the free sheet music app I currently use. However, while the trial version allowed me to import sheet music, it would not allow me to access any of the files I imported to test out features. I could not explore any of the menus, make annotations, even turn pages. Every time I click on a file, a pop up appears that tries to sell me the paid version. Great app for classical musicians
As a cellist who frequently plays orchestral and chamber music, this app, along with my iPad, is seriously the best thing ever. With my AirTurn pedal, page turning and fumbling with paper is no longer an issue. The editing function is so easy and flexible, and the fact that you can use different colors for marking and highlighting makes this app incredibly useful. Glitchy
The annotate feature isn’t functioning well for my work. I annotate my scores heavily because I sometimes have to play from orchestral reductions. I find it incredibly helpful to be able to edit out the notes that I decide to leave out. It isn’t freezing up a lot on me when I zoom in using the annotate feature. Otherwise, I actually really like the app, so I really hope that you will find a way to fix that problem because I paid for this product. I’ve been using Newzik for a couple of years now and there is plenty to like. As a tuba player, this allows me to find music quickly. It never blows off the stand, and I always have enough light. I did have pay for the upgrade to 5.0 when I thought it would be free for existing users. But, I don’t really mind supporting the folks that provide such fine support to a product I use almost daily. There are two features that I would like to see: 1) white notes on black background. Great if you have a foot pedal
This app is for orchestras and they have put a lot of thought into scrolling in that environment. But if you don’t have a foot pedal with you, you are out of luck. If you use automatic scroll, it reverts to displaying the screen by whole pages and won’t turn to the next page until you are already supposed to be playing it. They should be able to respect the option to scroll line by line while keeping the active measure in the middle, but apparently do not accommodate people who don’t carry a foot pedal at all times. It does what it’s supposed to do...........but......
Lately it’s gotten a bit “buggy”. It doesn’t let me send emails directly from the app. Don’t know if it’s a problem with iOS or with the latest update from iOS or from Newzik. The Newzik team is working on it but have yet to get me a fix for the issue. I can work around it by sending the files using the cut and paste format in PDF conversion but I cannot even send Newzik an e-mail directly from the app. It’s going on five days now and no fix yet. Just sent an email to Newzik via Yahoo asking if I have to pay for a complete deletion and re-installation but it’s 8:30PM in France right now so n

Simple and user-friendly
I love Newzik! Simpler interface than forscore, without sacrificing any practical functionality. Experimentation with Newzik has led this dinosaur of a conductor and orchestra librarian to venture far outside of his comfort zone in an attempt to embrace today’s technological advances. Library/bowing annotation is generally much quicker, clearer, and more detailed, without all the paper sorting and lugging. I’d be very interested to see how this works within a staff of librarians (with Dropbox integration and/or library synchronization). Welcome to the future!

Fantastic! Better than I could have hoped.
This does everything I wanted it to do and more. I love having the ability to put multiple different parts along with different variations of recordings together in one entry and switch between them on the fly. Works great with a page turner. Despite the “Composer/Piece” terminology I’m using this with rock and pop music too, and works great there as well. I’m planning to replace a handful of different apps with just this one, once I finish loading up all my music.
