Description
Bring your Green Mountain Grill into the 21st century with our grill management app. This app utilizes WiFi technology and has a range of up to 40 meters in point to point mode. You also have the ability to connect your grill to your home network in WiFi Mode and to our cloud based system in server mode. You can create grill profiles, monitor meat temps, set timers and alarms, and adjust grill temps from inside your home or anywhere. We have recently added calibration tools to calibrate both air temperature and probe temperatures. Stay tuned for updates and additional features on future releases.

I work with phone apps and back end servers I could program something better by myself easy. Although there is likely some blame on the hardware engineers. I mean wow, a printer does a better job staying connected with worse WiFi signal. Come on, really, this thing lives outside, put the extra 10 bucks per unit and get better hardware. I have had this smoker for a while, the app is super finicky. When everything is working it’s great! But put some more features in settings to help the user debug

I use to love my grill, it worked great for awhile. Then about a month or so ago I started having issues. The app was doing weird things and stopped sending notifications. I contacted GMG and have done everything they said to do and try. After deleting reinstalling and resetting the grill the app still wouldn’t send notifications and then it wouldn’t even get on server mode. After a lot of back and forth and trying things they said to try I switched to the beta app and it worked on server mode b

I’ve had my GMG Jim Bowie for about 5 years. For the most part it’s been solid and reliable and has made some great good. Unfortunately, the competition is leaving GMG in the dust, especially in terms of app features. To say the current app is basic would be an understatement. As another reviewer has pointed out most of the recent reviews are obviously fake! How pathetic of Green Mountain to do this and their overall score is still only 3 stars!
As far as the app it is mostly worthless and only works for turning the grill on and adjusting the temp and then The Wi-Fi is intermittent and server mode rarely ever works at all.

This app is great in theory but needs some work. Getting connected and switching between wifi and server mode can be complicated at times. Grill can’t be on for this but has to be on for that feature to work. Alarms keep repeating constantly. Alerts do not come through the phone unless on server mode. It could use a revamp and be a bit more user friendly. Especially with adjusting settings and pizza mode. It has its cons for sure. But it sure is nice when it’s working and you can read your food

Go look at the most recent reviews and the reviewers names. So obviously FAKE. And still it has only 3 stars. Shame on GMG for pulling this instead of actually fixing the app or better yet, rewriting it.

If the app decides to work properly, it’s a really nice feature; I would almost say it’s necessary in order to get the most out of your grill. Having said that, the app is pretty much garbage; it crashes constantly (iPhone 12 pro with up-to-date app), it boots the grill off the server after just a day or so in my experience, which is a huge hassle to fix. I just bought a grill and not only have I only been able to connect to our grill a few times, but if my phone goes black in the middle of a cook our grill is no longer detected. Another horrible thing is when the food reaches temp, you open the app and it will give you a push notification non stop preventing you from changing temp on the grill from the app and manually. I had to remove the target temp in between the non stop push notifications while keeping the temp probe in my hand so it wasn’t

The app works pretty well, especially with being able to monitor the food temps and run cooking profiles based on time or temp. The 2 things I’d like to see updated:
1. When the food temperature probe reaches the set point please PLEASE!!! give it some sort of 30sec delay when you hit dismiss before popping up the alert that it reached temp. I can’t disable the thing because it keeps popping up!!!
2. I would appreciate an alarm to show up when pellets are getting low on the app, and and alarm

Pretty clearly an app written by one person, the CEOs grandson, who came home one weekend from UNR and said “hey grandpa, we’ve been learning Swift this semester.” The UI is pretty elementary compared to most other apps on the store. So this review is partly affected by issues I had with my grill, but read through it.
My grill was NOT good to start with, GMG had to send 3 new controll panels, 3 new power supplies, an igniter and a temperature sensor before I could use it, I am still waiting for a replacement tray because the original one is warped thanks to it getting so hot due to the issues with the igniter and temperature sensor.
However, now my grill works, even with a warped tray I am not happy with the app, I am unable

This is a great concept for any grill, especially when you don’t wanna stand outside in 115+ degree temp while you watch your grill do it’s thing.
Unfortunately, GMG has much work left to do in order to get the app and the grills to deliver on the added WiFi features of their grills. I paid an extra $250+ for the Prime w/WiFi and its so far been a major headache and extreme disappointment.

I want to start off and say I LOVE my GMG Daniel Boone Prime Plus. I’d give the grill a 5/5 star rating. But this is simply a current review of the app/WiFi in its current state not the grill itself.
Aesthetically the app design is nice and that’s about the only positive thing. I’ve directly emailed GMG my concerns as the beautiful thing is all these can be fixed and it’s not a hardware problem rather software. Which leaves me hope for future app/firmware updates.

This grill was awesome until the update is forcing me to give up location data to use the app! Why does Green Mountain need to know my location to burn pellets? IOT FAIL we don’t need our grills or refrigerators to spy on us.

August update, same set of issue as before, latest updates have made no noticeable functional changes. This newest update talks about changes for pizza mode based on latest firmware 1.4+ but there is nothing in the app about that and my Green Mountain Grill’s firmware is 6.7 so what is this all about?
Bought the GMG Jim Bowie in April. Downloaded the app ASAP. WIFI was a bit challenging but I got it connected to home WIFI. Now it’s now working reliably.
