What’s New Version 23.4.0
Do you remember what it was like to be a kid? How at recess there was always this one student who would make these wild proclamations just so others might think they were cool? They’d say things like, “my dad can beat up your dad,” or, “my uncle once ate five whole watermelons,” or even, “I have a pet ghost,” and everyone would agree that yes, having a pet ghost does indeed make you cool. The way the kid would smile and cross their arms, knowing full well their friends were jealous of just how cool having a pet ghost would be. That is, until someone in the group would ruin the feeling by saying two tiny, yet powerful, words: “Prove it.”
We here at EM:RAP know how quickly these two seemingly insignificant words can take the wind from your sails, the gas from your engine, or the spark from your sparkler. That’s why we’ve set about making it easier to prove which episodes you’ve listened to in our app. Before, playing an episode again eliminated the record of it having been played in the first place. With this update, that record is retained, no matter how many times you listen.
We’ve also made several visual improvements to the video tab, and have polished the app’s layout. We’ve even added the ability to remove items from your Continue Listening carousel, just in case you’ve had your fill of one episode or another. As a bonus, we’ve made playlists more convenient with an expanded menu, and we’ve fixed a niggling bug which caused the app to over-report how much time was left in a chapter.
So go ahead, brag to your colleagues about how you once listened to one hundred hours of EM:RAP in just one day. When they ask you to prove it, you’ll have our app to back you up.

Build 883851531v23.3.02026-03-31 13:18:53
Imagine this: it’s 1985, and you’re in your dad’s suped up Thunderbird. You’ve just pulled up to a red light, and there’s this Camaro in the lane next to you. You rev your engine. The Camaro revs back: the race is on. You grip the wheel with one hand and crank the radio with the other, and the AM rock station you’re listening to floods your ear drums. The light turns green, and you stomp the accelerator.
Now fast forward to 2026. You’re in your sensible Toyota Corolla, creeping up to a red light with the latest EM:RAP episode playing at a gentle volume. There’s a Tesla in the other lane, but it doesn’t have anything to rev. Instead, the driver waves. Normally you’d wave back, but your other hand is busy tapping through a brand new CarPlay interface just launched by EM:RAP. You’re eagerly paging through EM:RAP episodes, EMA summaries, and C3 content, before switching over to your own playlists and downloads.
As the light turns green, the Tesla silently zips away. You carry on too—but instead of deafening yourself with Casey Kasem’s countdown, you’re listening to all the medical education you know and love, now available with a simple tap on your car’s touchscreen.
Build 881973052v23.2.02026-02-02 15:35:44
Spring has become synonymous with cleaning. As the weather warms, people all across the world air out their houses, beat their rugs on the back porch, and clean all those hard-to-reach spots we ignore most of the year. But do we need to wait until spring to relieve the underside of our beds from their dust bunnies, or behind our toilets from the latest in gross-out bacteria? We here at EM:RAP don’t think so. That’s why we’ve taken our iOS app outside and shaken the bugs from it, and worked to enhance its performance. By the time spring arrives, the EM:RAP iOS app will be one place we won’t need to clean—that way we can focus our attention on important things, like figuring out what to do with our drawer stogged full with charger cables.
Build 880782282v23.1.02025-12-18 18:58:49
Who doesn’t love holiday bug fixes? This final update of the year completes our to-do list for the year, preparing us for a fresh start. We’ve improved your listening progress, ensured downloads stay downloaded, and tidied up your dashboard. Enjoy these enhancements over the holidays and have a happy new year!
Build 879845888v23.0.02025-11-26 16:58:15
Have you ever dropped something—a lucky coin perhaps—into some tall grass, watching helplessly as it turned end over end in slow motion before vanishing among the tall green stalks? Did you frantically dive in after it, parting the grass with your hands while mosquitos bit your ankles? Did you stand up, defeated, wishing there was some kind of utility that could have searched through the grass and found the coin for you?
We here at EM:RAP know how frustrating searching for something can be. That’s why we locked ourselves in our offices and refused to come out until we had fully refreshed our in-app search. We’ve streamlined the flow to make finding what you need faster and easier. You can now edit your search terms right from the results screen, or filter by faculty or program with ease. We even started remembering your recent searches, just in case you need to go back to them quickly.
While our new search flow won’t help us find the $24.06 our staff have collectively lost in long grass over the years, it will help us—and you—find the EM:RAP content we’re looking for. So go ahead, and give it a try. There’s no telling what you may find.
Build 878800423v22.5.02025-10-09 16:09:24
Have you ever opened our app and stared blankly at the screen while trying to remember what you’d been listening to just a moment ago? Was it an EM:RAP chapter on sickle cell disease? Could it have been a UC Max chapter on the SHAAKE assessment? Now that you think about it, it could have been from C3—pediatric abdominal pain, maybe. Whatever it was, the telephone call from your mother-in-law reminding you it’s your turn to bring the Jell-O salad for Sunday dinner threw you for a loop and now you’re no longer sure where you left off.
Don’t worry. We here at EM:RAP routinely forget why we’ve walked into a room, where we’ve left our phones—or even that we were supposed to pick up the kids from school an hour ago. It’s human nature. And to help deal with human nature, we’ve added a new feature to the iOS app. Now when you start the app, it will launch the mini player preloaded with the last thing you listened to, but which you haven’t yet finished. We’ve also snuck in a few small bug fixes under the hood to keep the app humming along as usual.
It’s just one more way EM:RAP has your back, so give it a shot! Oh, and don’t forget to bring that Jell-O salad on Sunday. We’d hate to see you arrive empty-handed.
Build 876848556v22.4.02025-08-04 13:18:52
Let’s say you’ve just run a marathon. You’re doubled over, hands on your knees, panting away while someone rushes toward you with either a medal, a participation certificate, or maybe just a big cooler full of some mysterious orange drink they intend to pour over your head. Whatever it is, you’re at least getting something for your efforts.
We here at EM:RAP know how important it is to have your efforts rewarded, so we’ve made it easier to claim your CME with our brand-new, in-app CME reminders. Now the apps will tell you how many CME hours you have available to claim, and will even direct you in how to claim them.
It may not be quite as shocking as having icy tang run down your back, but this new feature will help when it comes time to claim all that thirst-quencing CME you’ve earned.
Build 875547156v22.3.02025-06-25 21:58:21
This update includes minor performance improvements to ensure smooth app operation. We also heard that some menus were difficult to tap, so we’ve made it easier to open them, allowing you to navigate the app more conveniently during study sessions.
Thank you for using the app and sharing your feedback!
Build 873255605v22.2.02025-04-24 20:19:32
We’ve made a significant behind-the-scenes change to how media downloads work. Downloads are now more reliable and better at resuming if interrupted, making it easier to access your content anytime, anywhere.
Thanks for your continued feedback and support!
Build 872947275v22.1.02025-03-10 16:17:00
In summary, summaries. We've refreshed our chapter summary pages to give you a smoother media experience. The pages now load quicker, look better, and display more consistently. This version also features bug fixes and design polish to make your app experience more reliable and delightful.
Build 871276246v22.0.02025-01-22 19:05:09
With the holiday season coming to a close, it is a good time to reflect on what we should cut back on and make more time for.
With the app dashboard's new Featured Episodes section, we cut back on the time it takes to view hand-picked content from EMRAP's experts! Use it to play content straight from the dashboard or click into the Featured Episodes list for a more detailed perspective.
Build 871133703v21.0.12024-12-16 13:59:18
Just a quick little update to fix a teeny tiny bug that could make our great big app fall flat on its face. This release patches up the app and sends it on its merry way with a word of caution about tripping over its own feet.
Build 870932522v21.0.02024-12-09 20:28:03
Good Morning, Doctor. That's what our new dashboard will say to you, unless of course it's not morning or you're not a doctor. It's time to greet our new feature, the dashboard. The dashboard is the place to get all the latest and greatest content at your fingertips. Choose one of the playlists featured in the new spotlight, or complete an episode from your continue listening. As we add features, the dashboard will become your new home in our apps. This release also includes significant bug fixes increasing the stability of the app and solves some audio playback issues.
Build 870569635v20.3.12024-11-21 18:24:52
This update resolves an issue with audio playback that was affecting some users. Audio now plays without interruptions, ensuring a smoother learning experience. Thank you for your patience, and happy studying!
Build 869804221v20.3.02024-11-12 19:01:44
We’ve been working hard to make your learning experience even better.
We’ve fixed a scrolling issue that was affecting iOS 18 users, so you can now navigate through the app more easily. Also, if you were having trouble with playlists that wouldn’t play, they should work now.
We’ve also made some general stability improvements, so your study sessions will be smoother across all devices. Happy learning!
Build 869420043v20.2.02024-10-02 22:11:17
Struggling with layout issues on smaller screens? This update fixes that! The app is now more optimized for all screen sizes, providing a seamless experience on all your devices.
We’ve also improved the media player—videos load faster when skipping to your favourite chapter.
Finally, we’ve addressed a number of bugs, making your study sessions more stable and reliable. Enjoy the smoother experience!
Build 868761526v20.1.02024-09-12 19:22:47
Too tired from your call shifts to lift your hand to your phone and play more EM:RAP content? Don't fear, the Autoplay release is here! Some media will now autoplay by default, providing a more immersive viewing experience. If you prefer not to use this feature, you can easily turn off autoplay via the Profile tab.
We've also squashed some bugs that were getting in the way of downloading media. Downloading is now smoother and more reliable.
Finally, we've increased the referral reward from $25 to $50, so now you can earn even more when you refer a friend!
Build 866916924v19.0.02024-07-22 12:42:19
The practice of medicine has something in common with software development: sometimes you need to perform surgery, sometimes you need to address the whole system, and sometimes you need both. This release contains a plethora of infrastructural changes to support some exciting new features coming down the IV!
We have also included a bit of plastic surgery for the UI, sutured up some rare crashes, and stabilized the app’s ability to handle scrolling through a large volume of content.
Build 865994444v18.2.12024-05-21 12:44:22
According to Frank Zappa in the album Joe’s Garage, “the white zone is for loading and unloading only.” It turns out, Zappa has been referring to the EM:RAP iOS app this whole time, because if you clicked on the Continue Listening carousel, you were treated to a white zone that did nothing else but load, and load, and load ad nauseam.
We’ve fixed that issue in this release, and have set about listening to the rest of Zappa’s discography, just in case he has any further bug reports to share.
Build 865624187v18.2.02024-05-08 19:36:41
They say sharing is caring, and this new release of the EM:RAP app lets user share episodes, chapters and playlists. Share your favourite medical educational content with your colleagues and find out what they’ve been listening to and watching. Share, care and maybe even overshare with the latest release of EM:RAP, available now on the App Store. This release also includes bugfixes and improvements for the continue playing feature, search and playlists.
Build 864705795v18.1.02024-03-26 19:44:30
You know what's better than getting EM:RAP content delivered on a weekly basis? Getting notified about it!
This small update integrates our weekly digests with our existing notification system.
Build 864095261v18.0.02024-03-01 00:46:16
The problem with all-you-can-eat buffets is that they make you feel really full, and you always leave food on your plate. Likewise, our monthly EM:RAP episodes fill your head with so much interesting stuff that it feels overloaded, and you’re probably missing out on some key learning.
To solve this, we’re changing things up. Instead of big monthly episodes, we’re going weekly. But if you prefer the buffet style, don’t worry. We’ll still gather everything into a monthly digest for you.
We’ve also made the app better for offline use, with new menus for easier downloading, favoriting, and playlist management. Plus, we’ve tweaked the media player for a smoother experience.
It’s a significant update, so grab the latest version of the EM:RAP iOS app now!
Build 863816818v17.1.12024-02-20 16:36:04
We’re getting awfully excited for spring! So excited, in fact, we’ve started our cleaning early. We’ve metaphorically shaken a few bugs from our rug, and not-quite-literally replaced the batteries in our smoke detectors. What’s more, we’ve fixed a number of issues related to downloading and offline playback, and have even added several new performance enhancements with more on the way. So stay tuned! We’re as busy as beavers, keeping our iOS app running in tip-top shape.
Build 862815740v17.1.02024-01-11 14:13:34
They say the closer you get to moving at the speed of light, the slower time passes for you, relative to an observer at rest. If that’s the case, then our app must have been traveling at warp speed because it certainly appeared its flow of time had slowed to a crawl. So slowly did it crawl that you, the observer at rest, may have noted the app really didn’t do much at all from time to time. It felt laggy or might freeze up now and again, as if it was moving in slow motion while slingshotting around a quantum singularity and entering a time slip.
We here at EM:RAP have slowed down the app in an effort to speed it up. That is, we’ve addressed the bug which made the app underperform—almost as if we’ve dropped out of warp and synchronized our clocks. Choppy performance is now a thing of the past, and routine freezes have become a distant memory. We’ve also released a number of visual fixes, as well as improving the favoriting experience.
So why not plot a course and engage those engines with our latest EM:RAP iOS app update.
Build 860712795v17.0.02023-10-17 19:42:53
Some people mark the arrival of Fall with an uptick in their pumpkin spice consumption. Others dutifully harvest fresh vegetables from their backyard gardens—while some us choose to recapture our youth by donning oversized sweaters and rolling around in dead leaves.
We here at EM:RAP have chosen to usher in the spooky season with a chilling update to our iOS app. We’ve toiled in the laboratory and mixed potions in our cauldron, all in an effort to add support for our brand new, spine-tingling DARK MODE. Now you can consume the same medical education you love in a format that’s sure to set your pulse racing.
So go ahead and grab this latest update, but don’t forget to enable dark mode in your device’s system settings. We’re sure you’ll agree: the app’s new look is a real scream.
