■ "Yesterday they did it. Why not today?" Brushing teeth. Homework. Getting ready for tomorrow. They could do it yesterday — today, nothing moves. You've said it a hundred times, and the same scene plays out. Maybe, that evening, you whispered to yourself, "I shouldn't have snapped." But tomorrow they'll do it. You believe it, and the next morning starts the same way. Every day has a wave. Looking only at the wave, we end up scolding the wave.
