Description
The 2026 total solar eclipse is Europe's first in 27 years. On August 12, the Moon's shadow sweeps across Iceland and Spain — from the Westfjords to the Balearic Islands — and for tens of millions of people, it is a once-in-a-lifetime event. For those in Reykjavík, it is the first totality since 1433. For those in Spain, it has not happened since 1905.
Eclipse Viewer is built to make sure nothing goes wrong.

FREE FOR EVERYONE
• Interactive path of totality map — Iceland and Spain, to your exact GPS location
• Precise contact times for C1, C2, C3 and C4, calculated from NASA astronomical data
• Live countdown to totality
• Animated phase visualiser showing what the eclipse looks like from your position
• Safety guide — ISO 12312-2 and CE certification explained, with a direct link to certified eclipse glasses
• Glasses safety verifier — hold your filter to the camera; the app tells you if it’s safe

ECLIPSE VIEWER PRO — €4.99, ONE TIME
You are investing time, travel, and planning into an event that lasts 60 to 130 seconds. Pro gives you the tools to make sure those seconds are not wasted.
HORIZON SCANNER
This eclipse happens low in the sky. In northern Spain, the Sun sits 8–12° above the horizon at totality. In the Balearic Islands, it drops to 2–3°. A single building or ridge in the wrong direction and you miss everything.
Horizon Scanner uses terrain elevation data and your GPS to calculate your actual western skyline — with the eclipse path overlaid at the correct altitude for your position. It tells you instantly whether your spot is clear, borderline, or obstructed.
FULL OFFLINE MODE
Cell networks in Reykjavík, Bilbao, Ibiza, and Palma will be under severe pressure on August 12. Eclipse Viewer Pro downloads the full terrain and calculation data to your device. GPS timing, contact times, and the entire app work without any signal.
PHOTOGRAPHY ASSISTANT
The Photography Assistant calculates the correct exposure settings for every phase at your GPS location and elevation, covering iPhone cameras and standard DSLR configurations.
PERSEID DUAL-EVENT PLANNER
The Perseid meteor shower peaks on August 11–13, the same days as the eclipse. Pro includes a combined planner showing optimal viewing windows for both events.
PERSONALISED ECLIPSE RECORD
After totality, Eclipse Viewer generates a shareable keepsake: your precise GPS coordinates, your exact duration of totality to the second, and a rendered image of the eclipse as seen from your position.
———
A note on accuracy: every contact time, duration, and sun elevation in Eclipse Viewer is calculated from NASA/GSFC Besselian element data — the same source used by professional astronomers.
The 2026 eclipse will not return to Iceland until 2196. It will not cross Ibiza again until 2135.
