What’s New Version 1.0.6

- The map is easier to see: the large unlock banner was replaced with a small button that opens details only when tapped - Timeline and Stats now always show your content first, with unlock info moved below

Description

Lost your Google Maps Timeline? Your photos still remember. Timeline Recovery reads the capture dates and GPS coordinates already embedded in your photos and rebuilds a record of where you were, and when. Everything happens on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded. If the March 2025 Timeline data loss left you without years of travel history, or you simply want a copy you actually own, this is the tool that digs that record back out. WHAT IT DOES - Scans your photo library on-device and reads only EXIF capture date and GPS coordinates - Groups nearby photos in time and space into visits, so a weekend in one city becomes one entry, not 200 - Reverse-geocodes each visit into country, state, and city - Timeline view: a chronological list grouped by year and country segment, so re-entries to the same country show up as separate trips, the way you actually traveled - Map view: pins for every visit, color-coded by country - Stats view: top countries and cities, ranked - Export everything to CSV, JSON, GeoJSON, GPX, or KML PRIVACY - Your photos never leave your device. The app reads metadata only. - Only capture date, GPS coordinates, and photo identifiers are read. The image data itself is not copied. - No current-location permission is requested. The app does not track you live. - No account, no signup, no analytics, no ads. Processing runs entirely on-device. FREE VERSION Try it on the last 12 months of your library, or up to 1,000 GPS-tagged photos, whichever comes first. That is usually enough to recover a year of real travel and see how the timeline looks for you. LIFETIME UNLOCK A one-time $14.99 purchase unlocks your full library: every year, every photo with GPS, and all export formats. No subscription. WORKS ON LARGE LIBRARIES Built for people with 10 or 15 years of photos. The scan is resumable. Close the app, take a call, come back tomorrow, and it picks up where it stopped. You will not lose progress. WHO IT IS FOR - Travelers who relied on Google Maps Timeline and lost or fear losing that data - Heavy iPhone photographers who want a self-owned record of where they have been - Journalists, researchers, and expats who need an exportable history of their own movements - Anyone who would rather have their location history sitting in a file they control than on someone else's server Timeline Recovery is an independent app and is not affiliated with Google.
