Description
Turn every safari into a living field journal.
Karibu Safari Journal is the wildlife companion for travellers exploring East Africa's national parks. Snap a photo, let our AI identify the species in seconds, and watch your personal field guide grow with every drive.
KEY FEATURES
Instant species ID
Point your camera at any animal or bird and our AI identifies the species, giving you behaviour notes, conservation status, diet, and lifespan. Works on mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and more.
Your living field journal
Every scan is automatically saved to your journal with GPS coordinates, date, and a beautiful photo card. Filter by category, group by trip, or browse the full timeline.
Sightings map
See where you spotted what. Every sighting drops a pin on the map so you can review your route, find hotspots, and remember exactly where that leopard appeared.
Big Five tracker
Tick off the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino) and unlock iconic species achievements as you progress through your safari journey.
Trip-based organisation
Create trips for each safari (Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire) and your sightings auto-group by trip. Share trip codes with friends to combine sightings into a shared journal.
Bird call library
Learn the calls of East African birds with our built-in audio library. Over 200 species sourced from xeno-canto with full attribution.
Built for Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda
Curated knowledge of the species you'll encounter in the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Maasai Mara, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, and more.
Works offline
Scans queue when you're off-grid in the bush and sync the moment you're back on Wi-Fi. Your sightings are never lost.
Conservation badges
Earn badges for spotting iconic species, completing the Big Five, contributing to community species data, and supporting conservation initiatives.
Privacy-first
Your sightings are yours. Sign in with Google or Apple. No ads, no tracking, no data sold. Delete your account and all data anytime.
