Description
Meow Linguistics — Interpret your cat's meow with academic citations on board.
Tired of guessing what your cat is saying? Meow Linguistics doesn't lean on AI mysticism. Instead it applies three historically grounded research models so every conversation with your cat has a paper to fall back on.
【Why Meow Linguistics】
▸ Academic, not anecdotal
We don't invent cat language. We cite it. Every translation traces back to a peer-reviewed source you can read for yourself.
▸ Three independent schools, switchable on the fly (Phase 1: Moelk drives translation; all three appear as intro cards)
- Moelk 1944: The American Journal of Psychology's classic 16-phoneme phonetic study of the house cat.
- Meowsic 2019: Lund University's modern prosodic analysis — emotion read from F0 contour.
- Marvin Clark 1895: 17 cat words from a Victorian-era public-domain dictionary.
▸ Completely free in Phase 1
No in-app purchases. No ads. No third-party tracking. Download and use.
▸ Translation happens on your phone
All logic runs on-device. No network. No cloud. Type a phrase, tap translate, get a Moelk phoneme + emotion label + a pre-recorded cat sound. Your history stays on your device.
【How to use】
1. Type what you want to say to your cat in Chinese or English (e.g. "good", "I'm hungry", "no").
2. Tap translate.
3. See the matching Moelk phoneme + emotion + pre-recorded cat audio.
4. Tap play to let your cat hear it (or to learn it yourself).
【Supported schools】

【Legal disclaimer】
▸ Interpretive, not authoritative
This app provides an interpretation of academic research, not a literal translation. Cats vary enormously between individuals — results are best-effort guidance, never authoritative conclusions.
▸ Not a substitute for a veterinarian
Do not make medical, behavioral, or veterinary decisions based on this app's output. If your cat shows abnormal signs (refusing food, hiding, excessive meowing), consult a qualified veterinarian.
▸ We do not collect your personal data
This app does not collect your name, contact details, or location. All translation history stays on your device.

【Phase 2+ roadmap】
▸ Premium subscription: cross-school Ensemble model returning a confidence score per meow.
▸ Two-way translation: record a cat sound, get text back.
▸ More animals: dogs, birds, rabbits (Phase 3).
— Thank you for giving your cat a paper to fall back on.
