Lex: Scrabble Dictionary

Lex is a fast, beautiful Scrabble word checker and dictionary for the moment your friend across the table claims "qi" is a word. Type any word, see in an instant whether it's a legal play in international Scrabble (SOWPODS), how many tile points it scores, and what it means. Roughly 268,000 words and 90,000 definitions are bundled in the app, so Lex works with no internet and no account. Open Lex, type a word, and the result card updates as you type: a green VALID badge or red NOT VALID, the word laid out as wooden Scrabble tiles, the total point value, and grouped definitions by part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb). The Recent tab keeps a history of every word you've checked so you can revisit close calls, and the Settings tab lets you remove ads with a one-time purchase. Definitions come from WordNet 3.1; the word list is the SOWPODS / Collins Scrabble Words set used in international tournaments. Lex is free with a single Medium Rectangle banner ad on the search screen; a one-time Remove Ads purchase turns it off permanently. Lookups are processed entirely on-device — Lex does not transmit your queries anywhere. The app does not track you across apps or websites and does not collect any personal data.
