Description

Step through the torii gate and into a world of restless spirits. Yokai Match is a cozy match-3 puzzle game rooted in Japanese folklore. Match yokai tiles to calm their spirits, fill the sacred ensō with harmony, and earn the megumi gifts of six ancient yokai: Kitsune, Tanuki, Bakeneko, Tengu, Oni, and Yuki-onna. When all six have answered your call, Inari herself steps forward. The fox goddess of the shrine offers her Meccha-Megumi, a sacred fire that purifies the board and opens the path forward. Tanabata has arrived at the shrine! The Milky Way has spilled across the board this year, ten new levels where the stars themselves cover your tiles. Clear matches nearby to chip away at the starlight and reveal what's hidden underneath. Write a wish on your tanzaku and Inari will carry it to the river for you (she might even have something to say about it). New this update: - 10 Tanabata levels with the new Milky Way mechanic - Star Omamori and Tanzaku komono to collect - A wish system tucked into the shrine, write yours and revisit it anytime Live now through August 9th. Year Two has begun, and something is blocking the path! 16 new Spring and Summer levels introduce Nurikabe, a wall yokai with a secret... figure out how to damage him, break through, and see what he was hiding. Complete Spring to unlock Nurikabe lore, and complete Summer to unlock Enenra. Plus: cascade animations, better shuffling, and shrine fixes to komono operation added. Don't forget to get into the Minazuki event before it's over and get your TWO komono and limited time yokai lore! Ganbare!

The Kappa is here and he is watching! A new 10-level June event Minazuki for the water month brings a pond board mechanic -- stone markers ring the water, counting down with every match. Let one hit zero and the whole board floods (and obviously, you lose). Earn two new komono with lore (a minazuki mochi and chinowa, both yours to keep!), a Kappa Yokaidex entry, and bragging rights. Bug fixes for wild and haraigushi mechanics.

Version 1.7 - Minazuki is Here! The water month has arrived! A new ten-level event is now live, running through June 30th. The Kappa has taken up residence in the pond at the center of the board. Stone markers ring the water's edge, each one counting down as you match nearby tiles. Let any stone reach zero and the pond overflows... and the board floods. Complete level 5 to earn the Minazuki komono, a traditional wagashi eaten at the height of the water month. Complete all 10 levels to earn the Chinowa, the purification ring of Nagoshi no Harae. Both komono come with lore about their place in the Japanese calendar. The Kappa is also now available in the Yokaidex for players who complete the event! Enjoy!

Tap when the moment is right. The choice and consequences are yours! Kitsune turns three tiles wild for two moves. Oni's 3×3 smash destroys free tiles; sealed tiles lose their ofuda. Yuki-onna's freeze is permanent. Tap a yokai's bar mid-level to learn their megumi power. Wild tiles show the mitsudomoe and a turn counter. Bug fixes!
