Description
Surface Ops is a free situational-awareness tool for anyone interested in airport surface operations — pilots, students, ramp staff, plane spotters, and the general public — with optional licensed features for professional airport ground-operations teams.
Free for everyone, at every US airport:
• Airport diagrams (runways, taxiways, aprons, hotspots)
• GPS-based ownship position on the airport surface
• METAR, TAF, and D-ATIS weather
• Live ADS-B traffic from a uAvionix skyAlert receiver (a separately-purchased consumer accessory)
• Runway-incursion alerts: CHECK RUNWAY, TRAFFIC RUNWAY, CHECK FINAL, TRAFFIC FINAL
• Visual highlighting of the runway under alert
• Offline operation once an airport diagram is cached (weather requires internet)
Optional licensed feature, at participating airports:
Airports that contract with uAvionix for the professional toolset can issue a one-time activation code to their authorized vehicle operators, which adds the FlightLine ADS-B network traffic feed from the airport's ground-based receivers, no per-vehicle hardware required.
No in-app purchase. The app and all consumer-facing features are free. Licensed airports pay uAvionix directly; the end-user operator never pays anything inside the app.
What Surface Ops is NOT:
• Not a certified safety system
• Not a substitute for ATC instructions or established ground-movement procedures
• Not a primary means of collision avoidance — visual scanning and radio communication remain primary
Privacy
Surface Ops collects only what's needed to operate: your activation code, a per-device licensing identifier, and—with your permission—your GPS location to display your position on the airport map. Location data stays on the device; we do not transmit it to our servers. No analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking.

Build 887042869v1.0.22026-06-16 20:25:36
New surveillance airports via FAA SWIM STDDS:
• Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta (KATL)
• Washington Dulles (KIAD)
• San Francisco (KSFO)
• Los Angeles (KLAX)
• San Diego (KSAN)
New FlightLine airports:
• Palm Beach (KPBI)
• Glacier Park (KGPI)
• Savannah/Hilton Head (KSAV)
Important: SWIM data is not approved by the FAA for operational use.
The app now displays a disclaimer when a SWIM-source airport is
selected. Use as supplemental situational awareness only — do not rely
on it for traffic separation, runway crossings, or vehicle movements.
Map improvements: radar-only surface contacts at SWIM airports now
render in a muted color so ADS-B-identified aircraft stand out at
busy fields. The aircraft detail panel now shows the ICAO hex.
Runway labels and hold-short bars default off for a cleaner opening
view — toggle on under the Map tab.
Fixes: resolved a tap-to-select crash on certain track types;
improved on-ground detection at SWIM-source airports; squawk codes
normalized to four-character display.
Build 886169897v1.0.12026-05-27 14:13:01
Improvements to license activation. When activating a code that's currently in use on another device, the app now asks for confirmation before signing the other device out.

No pricing data captured yet — comparisons appear once the app has paid storefronts or in-app purchases.
