Description
Gig Songbook is a stage-ready lyrics and setlist app for musicians. Keep songs, chords, notes, audio tracks, and score pages in one place — fast to edit, easy to perform with, and available offline.
SONGS & SETLISTS
Build your repertoire with title, artist, lyrics, chords, key, BPM, notes, and labels. Sort your library by title, recent changes, artist, or label. Copied lyrics on the clipboard? One tap on Paste as New Song creates a prefilled song — no typing. Create ordered setlists with date/venue, drag to reorder, and lock before gigs to prevent accidental edits. Swipe or long-press a song to add it to one or more setlists; long-press a setlist to edit, duplicate (Save As), or lock it. Every song shows which setlists it appears in.
PERFORMANCE & REHEARSE
Use full-screen dark mode for live playing and rehearsal. Quick song navigation, auto-hiding controls, seekable audio playback, and optional lyrics-follow mode keep your hands free on stage. For songs without a backing track, hands-free auto-scroll paces the lyrics from the song's duration (or BPM), with a live speed control and an elapsed/total readout.
LYRICS SYNC
Auto Sync uses Shazam + online timed lyrics; Manual Tap Sync lets you tap each line in time. Active lines highlight and auto-scroll during playback.
CHORD TOOLS
See chord diagrams for guitar and piano — switch instruments with a tap. Guitar shows the standard shapes spread across the neck (open, barre, and mid-neck positions); piano shows root position plus inversions. Your choice is remembered per song and per setlist. Transpose live (Pro) from the performance screen without changing stored lyrics — the transposition is remembered per song, and per song within a setlist.
SCORE PAGES & SONG IMAGES
Attach lyric sheets, chord charts, or full scores. Reorder pages and swipe them in Performance/Rehearse mode. Whether a song shows its images or the text lyrics is remembered per song — and per song within a setlist.
ICLOUD SYNC
Songs and setlists sync across your devices via your private iCloud container.
IMPORT WORKFLOWS (PRO)
• Improved TXT/PDF/MD lyrics import with a review step before saving.
• Edit title, artist, and labels before import.
• Preview parsed lyrics.
• Handle duplicates with Overwrite or Skip Existing.
• New Import PDF Score workflow: import one or more PDF scores, review each item, preview rendered pages, and import as swipeable score pages.
• Import audio files as songs with metadata detection and optional Shazam-based identification when tags are missing.
ONLINE SONG CATALOG (PRO)
Search by title or artist and import multiple songs at once.
EXPORT & BACKUP (PRO)
Export your full song library or setlists as JSON, including referenced audio, stems, and song images for portable backups.
STEM SEPARATION (PRO)
Try stems free for 30 days, then unlock with Pro. Create 2-stem or 4-stem versions, switch Original/Stems, and control levels in the mixer.
PRIVACY

1.2.9
2026-06-15
• Smoother editing: reordering songs, toggling, and quick edits no longer freeze or show a spinner while iCloud is syncing in the background.
• Your changes now save instantly on your device and upload to iCloud a moment after you finish — no mid-edit hitches, and edits no longer briefly snap back.
### Previous release (1.2.8)
• Fixed: reordering songs in a setlist could snap back after a couple of seconds while iCloud was syncing.
• Fixed: labels added in Settings could vanish or flicker while iCloud was syncing.
• Paste as New Song: copied lyrics anywhere? A one-tap paste button beside the Songs search bar creates a prefilled song — title, artist, key, BPM and lyrics detected automatically. Uses the system paste control, so there's no paste-permission pop-up.
• Sort your library: by Title, Recently Modified (new and imported songs at the top under "Today"), Artist, or Label — your choice is remembered.
• Cleaner, Contacts-style lists: no chevrons, and tapping anywhere on a row opens it.
• Start a set faster: every setlist now has a Play button right on its row, so you can launch the set without opening it.
• Songs inside a setlist now show the same details as your library, numbered in order; tap one to start the set from there.
• The song view now lists every setlist the song appears in.

1.2.7
2026-06-11
This release makes iCloud sync between your devices significantly more reliable.
• Deleted songs and setlists now stay deleted — a deletion made on one device can no longer be brought back by another device's sync.
• Re-importing a song you previously deleted now sticks: it no longer silently disappears again on the next sync.
• Removed audio files, stems, and score images no longer reappear after syncing.
• Importing a backup now counts as your newest copy everywhere — imported songs win on all synced devices instead of being overwritten by older data.
• A single damaged song record can no longer prevent the rest of your library from loading.
• Songs now show when — and on which device — they were last edited; give this device a name in Settings → This Device (stored locally, never synced).
• Under-the-hood sync engine overhaul for safer startup merging across devices on different app versions.
1.2.6
2026-06-10
• Faster setlist building — swipe or long-press a song to Add to Setlist (add to several at once, with a checkmark showing where it already lives, or make a new setlist on the spot).
• Long-press a setlist to Edit it, duplicate it with Save As…, or Lock/Unlock it — all without opening it.
• Hands-free auto-scroll for songs without a backing track — tap play and the lyrics/chords scroll on their own, paced by the new song Duration (or BPM), with a live speed control and an elapsed/total readout.
• New song Duration field — shown next to Key and BPM, as a clock badge in your lists, and included in import/export.
• Easier song switching in performance — the song picker opens from a floating button, so tapping the screen just shows/hides the controls and never opens the picker by accident.
• Chord diagrams now include piano — switch any chord between guitar and piano with a tap, with all voicings shown at once (guitar spread across the neck, piano with inversions). Your instrument choice is remembered per song and per setlist, with a new default in Settings.
1.2.5
2026-06-03
• Hands-free auto-scroll for songs without a backing track — tap play in the performance bar and the lyrics/chords scroll on their own. Set a song Duration and it scrolls the whole sheet over exactly that time (or it falls back to BPM); fine-tune the speed live, and see an elapsed/total readout as it plays.
• New song Duration field — shown next to Key and BPM in the editor and as a clock badge in your song list and setlists; included in import and export.
• Easier song switching in performance — the song picker now opens from a dedicated button floating just above the toolbar, so tapping the screen only shows/hides the controls and the picker is never opened by accident.
• Chord diagrams now include piano — switch any chord between guitar and piano with a tap. Guitar shows the standard shapes spread across the neck (open, barre, and mid-neck positions); piano shows root position plus inversions. All voicings appear at once, so there's no more cycling through them one by one.
• Your instrument choice is remembered per song, and per song within a setlist, with a new default in Settings (Guitar or Piano).
• Chord transposition (Pro) is now set right from the performance screen and remembered per song — and per song within a setlist, which takes priority. A small badge shows each song's transposition at a glance in your library and setlists. (The separate per-song stepper in the setlist screen is gone — set it from the performance screen instead.)
• The image-vs-lyrics view is now remembered per song, and per song within a setlist — switch a song to its score images in one setlist without affecting another. Importing a PDF score opens to the image view by default.
• Cleaner deletes — removing a song now also deletes its separated stem files and clears its leftover per-song settings from your setlists.
• iCloud sync now resolves conflicts per song and setlist — if you and another device both make changes while offline, each item is compared individually by edit time so no edits are accidentally lost when devices reconnect.

1.2.3
2026-05-25
• Improved Import audio as songs — bulk create songs from audio files with a review step for title/artist/lyrics choices.
• Improved TXT/PDF/MD lyrics import — new Review Import flow with inline title/artist/label edits, parsed-lyrics preview, and duplicate overwrite/skip handling.
• New Import PDF Score workflow — select PDFs, review/edit title + author + labels, preview rendered pages, then import with duplicate overwrite/skip handling.
1.2.2
2026-05-18
• Older devices (iPhone 14 and earlier, pre-M1 iPad) now show a clear "Export stems to play" prompt instead of a greyed-out play button — tap Export Stems right from the player bar.
• Choose stem export quality in Settings — 256 kbps (default), 192 kbps, or 128 kbps; stems are now AAC instead of Apple Lossless (~80% smaller at 256 kbps); existing stems keep working.
• Stem export now completes correctly after backgrounding — stems are no longer lost when you lock the phone or switch apps mid-export and return.
• Restore Purchase feedback improved — canceled restore attempts no longer show a success message.
• Redesigned song filter — a bottom drawer with two columns (Artists | Labels), quick chips, and faster access on iPhone and iPad.
• New Lyrics Sync — add timed lyric lines with Auto Sync via Shazam + online timed lyrics, or Manual Tap Sync.
• Better follow mode — active line highlight, faded past lines, chord color accents, and smoother auto-scroll during playback.
• Section header support — tags like [Chorus] and [Verse 1] are styled in performance and skipped in Tap Sync.
• Tap Sync timing warning — confirms suspicious out-of-order taps before overwriting timestamps.
• Smarter audio attach — importing audio now reads embedded metadata and can auto-fetch timed lyrics.
• Import audio as songs — bulk create songs from audio files with a review step for title/artist/lyrics choices.
• New-user demo setlist — optional starter set on first launch; can be loaded later from Settings when library is empty.

• After exporting/saving stems, playback now defaults to the newly saved offline stems for that layout.
• Fixed realtime stem export pitch issue caused by sample-rate mismatch in saved stem files.

• Redesigned filter — the Songs tab filter is now a bottom drawer with a clean two-column Artists | Labels layout, identical on iPhone and iPad. Drag up for more room or down to dismiss. Below the search field, one-tap chips surface your most-frequent artists and labels with a "More" shortcut to the full filter.
• Lyrics Sync — attach timestamps to every lyric line so the current line highlights and scrolls automatically during playback. Auto Sync uses Shazam to identify the song and fetch timed lyrics; Manual Tap Sync lets you set each line by tapping along with the audio in a dedicated editor. Repeated choruses always advance forward — the highlight never jumps back to an earlier occurrence.
• Lyrics follow visuals — the active line is highlighted with a white background, past lines fade out, chord lines render in gold, and section headers like [Chorus] appear in purple. The waveform button turns accent-coloured when follow mode is on.
• Smart audio import — when you attach an audio file to a song, the app reads embedded metadata (title, artist, lyrics) and uses Shazam to identify the track and fetch time-coded lyrics automatically, all in the background.
• Import audio as songs — select one or more audio files and Gig Songbook creates a song entry for each one, reading embedded tags automatically. A review screen lets you edit titles, trigger Shazam identification for unrecognised tracks, and choose between metadata lyrics and online lyrics before confirming. Supported formats: mp3, m4a, aac, wav, flac, ogg, aiff, caf.
• Import from Music Library — pick tracks from your iPhone Music Library and attach them as audio references to any song; non-DRM tracks are exported automatically.
• Auto-expanding editor fields — Lyrics, Chords, and Notes text areas in the song editor start collapsed; tap to expand. Lyrics scroll within a 400 pt area; Chords and Notes within 200 pt. Fields with existing content open pre-expanded.
• Song images — attach a full score, chord chart, lyric sheet or any visual reference to a song; import from Photos or Files, drag to reorder; images replace the text view in Performance and Rehearse mode with swipeable full-screen pages.
• Keyboard Done button — a prominent Done button now appears in the keyboard accessory bar when editing any text field in the song editor (Lyrics, Chords, Notes), including when creating a new song.
• Audio import progress — the "Resolve Artist, Song & Lyrics" button in the Import Audio screen now shows a live progress bar and counter ("Resolving 2 of 5…") so you can see exactly how far along the Shazam resolution is.
• Automatic file cleanup — unused audio and image files are silently removed on launch; no more "Unused Audio Files" prompt cluttering your workflow.
• Cancel Shazam resolve — while the Import Audio screen is resolving artist, song and lyrics, a Cancel button lets you stop the process at any point; results already resolved are kept.
• Export progress & destination picker — Export All Songs now shows a progress bar counting each song as it is processed, with a Cancel button; when complete a full Files browser opens so you can choose exactly where to save the file instead of navigating the share sheet.
• Portable media backups — JSON exports now include referenced audio files, stem files, and song images so imports restore complete songs, not only metadata.
• Song list keyboard Done — the search field in the Songs view now includes a keyboard Done button for faster dismissal.
• Chord charts — the guitars button opens a bottom strip of chord thumbnails; tap any chord (or a chord in the lyrics) for a large fretboard card with arrows to cycle voicings; slash chords show which string carries the bass note.
• Stem separation and mixing — Generate 2 stems (Vocals + Instrumental) or 4 stems (Drums, Bass, Other, Vocals) from the song editor
