Description
Most weather apps show you what a computer model thinks. KC WeatherNOW shows you what a meteorologist knows.
Built exclusively for Kansas City by a community of developers and weather experts, KC WeatherNOW combines professional forecast expertise with hyperlocal data sources unavailable on any national platform. Every forecast is informed by a meteorologist who actually understands KC weather patterns.
Features
What Matters Today
Plain-language weather summaries written like a broadcast meteorologist — updated three times daily for morning, afternoon, and overnight. Not raw data — actual insight about what the weather means for your day in Kansas City.
Storm Awareness & Alerts
Tap ME to drop your location pin on the radar. The moment you fall inside an active NWS watch or warning, a color-coded banner appears — "You're inside a Tornado Warning." Real push notifications for severe weather and approaching storm cells, personalized to your location. One simple on/off toggle. No duplicate alerts.
Aches & Pains Barometric Pressure
24-hour observed and 5-day forecast pressure chart with plain-language health context for joints, sinuses, and migraines.
Allergy Outlook
The only KC weather app with hospital-verified, plant-specific daily pollen counts from Children's Mercy Hospital's Department of Allergy and Immunology. Includes a trend indicator showing whether pollen is rising or falling.
Push Notifications
Real iOS push alerts for severe weather and approaching storm cells — personalized to your location. Daily morning briefing option delivers that day's forecast to you at 6, 7, or 8am. Alerts when the pollen count reaches high levels
Activity Forecasts
Meteorologist-informed outlooks for golf, fishing, hunting, yard work, and eating outside.
Lightning on the Radar
See real-time lightning strikes overlaid on the radar map. Strikes fade over time so you can track storm movement and intensity at a glance.
Future Radar
3-hour HRRR-powered future radar — see where storms are headed before they arrive.
Interactive Radar
Full-screen NEXRAD radar with real-time updates, storm cell tracking so you know what storms could produce hail or a tornado soon
Severe Weather Alerts
Instant NWS alerts with full-screen emergency overlay when a warning covers your location.
Lake Forecast
Weekend forecast for Table Rock, Lake of the Ozarks, Truman, and Perry lakes — wind, water temperature, and chop indicators for boaters and anglers. Includes solunar peak times for fishing and hunting planning.
Hourly & 10-Day Forecasts
48-hour forecast with larger rows, sunrise and sunset times, and rain chances next to each hour. Full 10-day outlook informed by a meteorologist, not just an algorithm.
KC Sports Weather
Game day weather forecasts for the Royals, Chiefs, Sporting KC, and KC Current — so you know what to wear before you head to the stadium.
Muggy Meter
Because 90° in KC feels nothing like 90° anywhere else.
Current Conditions
Real-time temperature, feels-like, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, UV index, and precipitation totals — updated continuously.
Share Your Forecast
Snapshot and share current KC conditions as an image directly to social media, messages, or anywhere else.
