1.28.3 - Economy, cargo, and competitors
- Rebalanced route demand - Air now competes with rail and road. Biggest impact in short hops (i.e. JFK - PHL)
- Competitor fixes - Airlines now fly their historical networks with corresponding aircraft. It is an 80% historical match and 20% generated.
- Freight improvements - Freighters can now fly between all airports without restrictions. Cargo can now transfer to other aircraft, like passengers already can.

Description
Airline Executive is an airline management simulation without ads and without premium currency. Build an aviation empire across decades of history.
Start your airline in any era from 1950 to 2020. Begin with propeller-driven aircraft in the golden age of aviation, enter the jet age with the first commercial jets, or jump into the modern era of widebody aircraft and low-cost carriers. Every era plays differently.
Choose your headquarters from over 2,000 real-world airports and plan your network. Analyze route demand, set frequencies, configure seating layouts, and monitor load factors as markets evolve. Your hub is the heart of your operation, and every route decision shapes your airline's future.
Build your fleet from over 100 historically accurate aircraft types. Order new from the manufacturer and wait for delivery, lease to grow fast without the upfront cost, or find deals on the second-hand market. Each aircraft has specific engines, range, capacity, and operating costs that change how your airline performs.
Time advances week by week. Set ticket prices, maintain your fleet through MRO providers, design cabin layouts with premium seating and amenities, manage cargo operations, and watch your airline grow from a small regional carrier into a global network.
FEATURES
No ads, no premium currency. The game is entirely free for the first 5 in-game years or 25 aircraft. One-time purchase to unlock unlimited play. No timers, no energy systems, no pay-to-win.
Historical depth. Start in the 1950s with DC-3s and Constellations, or in 2020 with A350s and 787s. Aircraft, engines, airports, and market conditions are all era-appropriate.
Deep route planning. Connect airports across the globe. Analyze demand, set frequencies, choose aircraft, and configure seating. Build a hub-and-spoke network where connecting passengers multiply your revenue.
Fleet management. Over 100 aircraft types with real specifications. Buy, lease, or find second-hand deals. Customize cabin layouts with economy, business, and first class seating, IFE systems, and premium amenities.
Financial simulation. Manage cash flow, take loans, set ticket prices, and track revenue and expenses down to individual routes. Grow sustainably or gamble on rapid expansion.
Cargo operations. Earn additional revenue from belly cargo on passenger flights, or operate dedicated freighters on high-demand freight routes.
Competition. Compete against AI airlines modeled after real-world carriers, or turn competitors off entirely and build at your own pace.

V1.27 - Design & Significant optimization
- New design! The game now looks much prettier while creating a foundation that allows quick iteration (new features coming soon!).
- Game load improvements; games will now load approximately 3-4x faster, significantly improving the experience once you get above ~100 aircraft in your fleet.
- Week advance now takes around 10 seconds for a large airline, which is 6x faster than before!
+ Significant reduction in end-of-year crashes and removal of dead ends in the tutorial.

A big update focused on running a group of airlines.
- Group Codeshare: every airline in your group now codeshares with every other automatically. Bulk apply routes between parent and subsidiaries, or between subsidiaries, filtered by hub or domestic/international.
- Reduce departures on a route without rebuilding it. Swipe a route, tap Reduce, pick the flights to drop. The route keeps its maturity.
- Remove a hub or dissolve a subsidiary from the Management screen. Aircraft and remaining cash transfer back to the parent.
- Subsidiary bailouts: when a subsidiary runs out of cash the parent now covers the shortfall each month with a clear running tally.
- Globe view draws flights as real great-circle arcs, so New York to Tokyo now bows over the pole the way a real flight plan does.
- Aircraft delivery follows historical production rates per type, so an A320 in 1995 delivers slowly and an A320neo in 2024 delivers fast.
- Plus a fix for a year-end crash that could hit long-running games where too many AI competitors had quietly gone bankrupt, and a long list of smaller polish.
Coming next: 1.27 is a major design refresh. Cleaner, more consistent screens across the whole app, with proper light and dark mode support. No new mechanics, just a much better-looking game.

v1.25.2 — Faster, fixed, and a lot of community wins
- Up to 77% faster week advance. Mature airlines now fly through weekly processing in roughly a quarter of the old time.
- iPad mini, fixed. v1.24's new layout didn't fit iPad mini and made the game cramped. Sorry about that. iPad mini (and any narrow Stage Manager window) now uses a proper single-column layout (more like iPhone than iPad). iPad Air, Pro, and iPhone are unchanged.
- The mid-load and mid-advance crash, fixed. If the screen went to sleep or you swiped the app away while loading a save or advancing a week, iOS could kill the app. Tracking it down took longer than I'd hoped — thank you for the patience while I worked through it.
Further improvements:
- Routes view: search flights by airport, city, or aircraft used. Bulk-change aircraft type on routes, pause or resume individual flights, and hide impossible fleet groups when scheduling.
- Quick Saves are now a Settings choice — keep the last 5, 10, or 25 (default 10) — and every Next Week click writes a Quick Save, so the worst-case lost progress is one week instead of one month.
- Save loads on mature airlines are noticeably faster, with the loading screen staying responsive throughout.
- Historical airports back to their right years: Oslo Fornebu, Athens Hellinikon, Istanbul Atatürk, Doha International, Singapore Paya Lebar, New York Idlewild, Riyadh Air Base. When they close in real-world history (Oslo 1998, Athens 2001, Istanbul 2019, and so on), flights, hubs, and fleet groups transfer to the replacement airport automatically — no manual rerouting.
- Add Hangar on existing MROs. Expand an in-house MRO without rebuilding from scratch; cost and monthly bump scale with the era.
- Used aircraft market: a 737-500 won't show up in a 1950 game any more, and the same goes for every other aircraft before its real entry-into-service year.
- Tutorial soft-lock fixed. If ordering aircraft pushed you past the free-play wall before you finished onboarding, that's resolved. On iPad, the route-detail step also now advances when you tap any route, not only when the detail sheet appears.
- Cabin reconfigurations that reach Completed no longer linger in the Pending list.
- Crew-shortage advisory now reflects that staffing is automated — no more dead-end tap.
Thank you to everyone who sent feedback, screenshots, and debug snapshots while I worked through this update — particularly Matyas, whose extraordinary level of detail drove a huge chunk of this release. Thanks also to Tony, Nick, Awab, Issa, Scott, and the many other players who flagged issues and stuck with the game while I tracked things down. Keep the reports coming.
