Description

The Parkinson’s Companion (TPC) is a free educational and wellness app designed to support People with Parkinson’s (PwPs) and the healthcare professionals (HCPs) who care for them. Parkinson’s disease is complex, with more than 40 possible symptoms affecting daily life. Many of these (particularly non-motor symptoms) are often hidden or overlooked. TPC is based on the Chaudhuri-Mostyn Dashboard, a widely used clinical framework created to promote more consistent, holistic discussions about Parkinson’s during every consultation. The app has two parts. Part 1: Parkinson’s “Vitals” Dashboard TPC acts as a structured aide-memoire to help ensure that all key aspects of Parkinson’s are considered. It guides users through the five core Parkinson’s “vitals”: • Motor symptoms • Non-motor symptoms • Vision, gut, and oral health • Bone health and falls • Comedication and comorbidities The TPC helps PwPs prepare for appointments and supports HCPs in delivering more comprehensive and efficient consultations. Part 2: Wellness and Exercise Support Regular exercise is widely recognised as beneficial for general well-being in people with Parkinson’s. TPC includes short, easy-to-follow exercise videos designed to: • Support overall well-being • Help manage day-to-day symptoms • Encourage safe, regular movement at different levels of ability These routines are intended to complement clinical care and can be followed at home at the user’s own pace. Designed with simplicity in mind TPC has been developed with accessibility and ease of use as core principles. The interface is clear and uncluttered, making it suitable for people experiencing fatigue, apathy, or motor difficulties. Important information The Parkinson’s Companion does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and does not replace professional care. All content is provided for educational and well-being support only. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional with any medical questions or concerns. Developed to improve awareness, consistency, and quality of Parkinson’s care, The Parkinson’s Companion aims to help PwPs feel better prepared, better informed, and better supported in managing their condition.
