Description

Know before you eat. Every restaurant. Every grade. Safe Spoon in NYC (NYC Restaurants) gives you instant access to the official NYC Department of Health sanitation grades for every restaurant in the five boroughs — so you can make smarter dining decisions, whether you're a local or just visiting. 1. Official Health Inspection Data Every grade, score, and violation comes directly from the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene. Data is always current, pulled live from the NYC Open Data platform. No guesswork — just the facts. 2. Community Reviews & Ratings See what other diners think. Leave a star rating (1–5) and a comment about your experience. Read real opinions from the community right alongside the official inspection data — so you get the full picture before you walk in. 3. Explore by Map Switch to Map View and see all nearby restaurants plotted across the city. Color-coded pins show grades at a glance: green for A, yellow for B, red for C. Tap any pin for a quick summary and tap through for full details. 4. Near Me Turn on Near Me mode to instantly sort every restaurant by distance from where you're standing. Perfect for finding the cleanest options in your neighborhood right now. 5. Leaderboard Curious which restaurants are the worst offenders — or which ones have cleaned up their act? Browse the Leaderboard: Most Violations, Worst Grades, and Best Streak (restaurants that have earned consecutive A grades). 6. Filter & Sort Your Way Filter by borough (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island), narrow down by cuisine, and sort by grade, score, number of violations, name, or distance. Find exactly what you're looking for in seconds. 7. Grade History Chart Each restaurant shows a visual trend chart of its past inspection grades and scores — so you can see at a glance whether a restaurant is improving, declining, or consistently clean. 8. Violation Breakdown See exactly what went wrong in plain language. Violations are organized into clear categories: Pests, Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Facility & Equipment, and Administrative — with critical violations highlighted. 9. Improved Grade Badge Restaurants that bounced back from a B or C to earn an A are highlighted with a special badge. Give credit where credit is due. 10. Favorites Save your go-to spots and view them all in one place. Your favorites are saved locally and sync across your sessions. 11. Dark Mode Fully supports light and dark mode, adapting automatically to your device settings or your personal preference. 12. Get There Easily Get directions, order an Uber or Lyft, check Yelp reviews, or open Google Maps — all without leaving the app.
