Freddie: Your queer space

We fixed a few bugs related to notifications and new user onboarding. it’s a small update but needed.

it’s been a min, but we’re back with a new update :) we redesigned events from the ground up: they are simpler, cleaner, and more fun to use. you can now pick from myspace-inspired themes. some y2k pixelcore, some early internet, all very freddie. we also brought back smoother swiping between posts and personals, and added a new chat tab that shows all your space chatrooms.

We’ve been cooking up the following updates to Freddie… Spaces - New Chat tab with a cleaner, easier-to-browse chatroom list App-wide - One-tap “Add to Calendar” for events - “Clear All” button for notifications - Accessibility upgrades: screen-reader labels and adjustable font sizes - Miscellaneous bug fixes in the feed and Spaces Big event upgrades are in the works—stay tuned!

This update resolves an issue where feed filters were not properly applied to the Posts > Everyone tab.

We have been working on our list of Summer improvement and first on the list is Spaces. Spaces Improvements include: - Owner controls: Toggle Posts, Chat, and Events tabs on/off. - Customization: Add/update a header image, set a location, choose categories. - Moderation tools: Add moderators and fine-tune what each can manage. - Discoverability & setup fixes: Cleaner join flow, UI polish, and fixed bug existing bugs. General App Improvement: - Share posts via DM: From any post in Feed, tap Send, choose recipients, add a note—your friends get the post with context. - Jump Space Feeds: On the Feed, swipe left & right to jump to different Space feeds. Up next: We’re rebuilding Events. Message us on Freddie with what you want improved. —Freddie

We have a packed summer roadmap! First up, we’re making Spaces more functional and intuitive. Here’s what’s rolling out today: - New Spaces tabs let you browse each Space’s feed more easily. - Post-destination toggle on the Home “Create Post” screen—choose the main feed or a specific Space. - Chatroom limit raised from 20 to 30. - Clickable links in comments (finally!). - Up to six links per post for richer sharing. **Happy Pride!** Pride began as a response to the police raids at the Stonewall Inn. So while we celebrate with vibrant colors, let’s also honor the resilience of those who fought—and continue to fight—for our community’s rights. **What’s new:** - **Photo Headers & Photos Tab** Add images to your new **Photos** tab, and they’ll appear as a swipeable header carousel on your profile. Want a cleaner look? You can hide the header or the entire tab in Settings. - **Personals Upgrades** You can now edit your Personals after publishing and share them via URL. - **Events Tab Refresh** A cleaner layout aligned with our updated design—more upgrades coming soon. - **Improved Media Moderation** We’ve updated our moderation system to reduce false flags. Let us know how it’s working for you. - **Post Archiving** Hide posts without deleting them. You can restore archived posts anytime from Settings. - **Comment Link Sharing** Share direct links to individual comments. - **Add to Google Calendar** You can now add Freddie events directly to your Google Calendar. - **Private Event Fixes** We resolved an issue affecting private event listings. - **Chat Poll Glow-Up** Polls in chat got a sleek new look. Ask the bold questions. - **Alt Text for Images** Add alt text to images in posts and profiles to improve accessibility. - **Search Facelift (Phase 2)** Search keeps getting faster and cleaner. Alas, Gemini season is here—and honestly, we’re already counting down to Cancer season. While we’ve been plotting our summer camping adventures, we’ve also been making some updates on Freddie: - You can now turn GIF autoplay on or off. - ‘Stuff You Should Know’ got a new name—‘About Me’—and a scroll fix to go with it. - Settings got a little facelift! We regrouped things so controls are easier to find. - We added neurodivergent love languages. - New “I’m looking for” categories: Comets, Makeouts, Travel Buddies, and more. - Search got a refresh to match our new vibe. More improvements coming soon. - Fixed a bug that made event images look weird and lo-fi. - Added a new Muted Users page in Settings to make unmuting folks easier. Go update the app!

Hey! Summer’s almost here—and we can feel it. We’ve been heads down fixing bugs and improving app stability, with lots of work happening behind the scenes. Here’s what’s new: - Redesigned the Top 8 selector screen - Added an “I’m new” badge to new accounts so it’s easier to spot fresh faces in the feed - Updated the design for profile creation & editing for written, visual, and audio tiles. - gif on/off switch - redesigned stuff you should know - redesigned settings Reminder: Freddie is now a membership-based community. Freddie is now a values-based, membership-driven community. To better protect our space and stay aligned with our mission, we’ve introduced a membership application process for all users. We center the experiences of sapphic, trans, and gender-diverse people—especially BIPOC—and are building a more intentional, safer platform for connection. Anyone can apply—membership is based on alignment with our values. All users must update the app and complete a one-time onboarding flow by June 6, 2025. Accounts that do not complete the new process by this date will be deleted, in accordance with our Terms and Community Guidelines.

Taurus season is upon is and we’re ready to let our Taurus moons shine through the whole season. Catch us staying cozy at home while cooking up some carbonara and having a glass wine. We love the finer things in life and you cannot change our minds. When we’re not being homebodies, this is what we’ve been cooking up on Freddie: - We reintroduced the Following tab — it filters the feed to show only people you follow. To see everyone, just tap the “Everyone” tab. More updates are coming soon to better highlight Space posts. - Fixed an issue that prevented scrolling through the full blocked user list. - Freddie links now work! Whether shared a Freddie link on or off the platform, links will take you to the correct place. - You can now turn off read receipts in chats. Like text messages, the other person will only see that you received the message — not when you read it. To access, head to Settings and click on Messages. - When replying to a comment, the screen now scrolls to fully show the comment while you type. The reply box used to block it. - You can now repost your own posts. - Improved notification loading and reduced redirect lag. - Spaces got a mini facelift. More improvements are on the way. Aries season kicked off with bang, and we're ready to embrace warmer days as we shake off the last of our winter hibernation. Here’s what we’ve been working on: - For the Astrology queers - we’ve a way to add your Zodiac big three to your profile. Set your sun, moon, or rising - don’t be shy. - Customize your feed by muting users you don’t want to see. Muted users will still be able to see your content on their feed and you’ll still be able to look them up. - We fixed an issue where posts with events had blurry images. - Fixed issue where some Space chat rooms were not appearing correctly. - We resolved an issue where sending a message would lag and require an app restart. - We’re given profile tiles a facelift - it’s giving polaroids. Well this month has felt like a year so far. We hope you’re taking care of yourselves. We’ve been crocheting, rage watching LIB, and trying to learn how to stretch. But more importantly, we’ve been making updates to Freddie. Here’s what we cooked up: - Chat rooms are back on Spaces! Create rooms for different topics, and admins can now delete comments. - Fixed feed filters for age (on the Posts tab) and location. - Notifications are now grouped to feel less chaotic. - Snap a pic in-app, and it saves straight to your camera roll. - No more blank replies from deleted users on your personals! You’ll indicated when an account was deleted. - Made it easier to tap on comment replies and likes. - Updated the default screen for creating personals. - Squashed a bunch of bugs, including adding message trim in chats. We’ve been working to resolve user reported bugs since the last release. We know a lot has gone on the last two weeks - and we want affirm that we’re ready to uphold this space for our community. We hope you find comfort and levity on Freddie during this incredibly hard time. Here a rundown of what we worked on: - Repost Bugs and Redesign We resolved various repost bugs, including media attachments not showing up and quote reposts omitting media. We also redesigned how reposts are displayed by grouping them together, making it easier to see who has reposted something. - Home Icon Update We removed the red dot from the Home navigation icon now that the feed has a “new posts” banner at the top center. - Chat List Scrolling Issue We fixed a scrolling issue on the chat list that made it difficult to scroll past a certain point. - Notification Badge Fixes We now successfully clear out the notification badge, which previously got stuck. We also addressed bugs causing some users to miss push notifications for post replies. - New “I’m Looking For” Options We added 14 new, community-suggested “I’m looking for” options. - New Gender Identities We introduced two new gender expression options. - Thread Image Visibility We fixed an issue where images weren’t appearing in threads. - Global Feed Location Filters Global feed location filters now also apply to personals.

It’s been so great seeing so many few faces. This week we focused on stabilizing the app. This is what we fixed: - We added a ‘new posts’ banner so its easier to tell when there are new posts on the feed - We added new self identifiers in “Stuff you should know” module on profile - Pulling down refreshes the feed correctly - We fixed issue with scroll orientation when returning to main feed - Fixed issue when replying to comments where comments wouldn’t immediately show up - Personals are now in chronological order

- End to end message encryption using Signal Protocol - Personals - Anonymous lo-fi text based posts where you can find dates, vent, and connect with people. Ditch endless swiping and post a Personal instead. - Redesigned chat experience - Redesign Post feed, including a new thread like comment section.

We hope you’ve been enjoying spooky season. We have been making upgrades to Spaces. We got rid of chat rooms and replaced them with a Space feed. Now you can add posts that work just like posts on the normal feed. Also, you’ll be able to view Space posts on your normal feed. We are starting an Events newsletter so look out for that newsletter prompt on the app. We’ve also added aggregated new events into the app, improved loading performance, and fixed a few minor bugs. We made a few small updates to Freddie: we fixed an audio playback issue for posts with audio notes, we updated the comment counts on posts, improved image upload on event pages, and fix a bunch of small bugs.
