Description
Turn your smartphone into a powerful onboard dyno!
Measure your car’s real engine power and torque with 2% accuracy — all by performing a simple acceleration!
Verify the effectiveness of your tuning, remaps, or upgrades with an independent, objective, and affordable solution.
-------------
What is PerfExpert?
PerfExpert – Car Onboard Dyno & Timer is a professional-grade app that lets you measure your car’s real performance:
• Engine power & torque curves
• 0–60 mph / 0–100 km/h acceleration times
• Quarter mile / 400 m times, and more.
All tests are performed using just your phone — no connection to your car required. Results come in detailed reports with interactive charts.
-------------
How does the dyno work?
1. Create your car profile
Enter key specs like curb weight, tire size, and displacement. If you’re unsure, the app helps you find them.
2. Mount your phone securely
No need for OBD or external sensors. PerfExpert uses your phone’s internal sensors to capture acceleration accurately.
3. Perform a full-throttle pull
On a flat, straight road, accelerate from low revs to redline in one gear — done!
Note: Dyno tests are not compatible with automatic gearboxes that lack a manual mode.
-------------
What can you do with PerfExpert?
• Evaluate ECU remaps, chip tuning, and intake/exhaust mods
• Track changes after hardware upgrades or chassis setup changes
• Share dyno reports with your tuner or friends
• Export your runs as interactive charts and raw data

★★★★★ Calibration — Viper corvette stang lover
Once I go through the calibration routine, it gives me no choice to move onto a test-only a “back” button that takes me back to the “calibration” button, forcing me to start over, in a circle. What may I be doing wrong?
★★★★★ Helped tune and see HP gains with a turbo — UlyZ300
If you get all the parameters right, it’s accurate to +- 5 HP. This app worked so well for me and helped me visualize and tune power gains for my old 86 300ZX, recently turbocharged.
★★★★★ Don’t do it — Tasheemie
Does not work at all
★★★★★ Very accurate, useful and stable — gyrt64t3sg
I have tested numerous apps which some where OBD2 connected and some like this one, independent of OBD2 being a stand alone one.
I was surprised to find out how accurate this app in comparison to a standard dyno. In fact, I feel that this app gives me a more reliable reading in comparison to commercial dyno where parameters can be adjusted by the operators which may not be in line with the proper characteristic of my car.
One improvement that I would suggest is: to allow the user to choose the
★★★★★ Doesn't work — TheKis3r
I put all the work in setting up my car but it A) can't retrieve weather data and B) apparently the GPS doesn't work either because it never detects my speed to start measuring.
★★★★★ Nice Accuracy — SSG_Carter
Key to this app! Key in Correct info. And this app is Great. Excellent tuning tool.
★★★★★ Need a little help — Justin McGurn
Trying to put all the numbers in properly to dunk the car but I have a 2017 civic lx hatch that is a CVT transmission. I have full bolt ons and running full e85. In the fuel option it only lets me choose between gasoline or diesel and the second problem I have is that I don’t really have any defined gear ratios besides my first gear final drive and reverse. Would the app still be accurate missing those parameters?
★★★★★ Pretty spot on — Ultrapogi!
I have had 3 dynos on my car within the last month so I know what my graph should look like. My car was not listed in the pre selections so I had to input that data. The graphs were really close. It would be impossible to say they just used factory data since my data was not available and it didn’t ask for the horsepower at all. So two thumbs up for me.
★★★★★ Buy a Vbox — Miata99
Ten bucks down the drain... seems like a cool app, only if you have a supported vehicle. Should just put that $10 towards a Vbox.
★★★★★ Great car performance information — Jdrasberry
I wasn't ready to go spend hundreds of dollars on a Dyno run. So I went looking for a Dyno for my iPhone and I came across a PerfExpert.
PerfExpert was the first performance app I tried. Their website has the information that was not included in the app for how to set it up and make it work. It works so well for me that I didn't even go look for any other dynamometer apps.
I recommend this app for anyone that's interested.
★★★★★ Timed run — Luizvictorqueiroz
I downloaded it to use for timed run but it is pratically hard to get it. How to use ? It is not friendly.
There is app for android only which I wanted it is called Dino. You setup the speed range like 50-150km/h and when you reach the minimum speed it start recording automatically and ends when you get to 150..
★★★★★ This app is awful!!! — JBrown62
Did not contain my vehicle, common truck!! DO NOT BUY!!
★★★★★ If I could give a 0 I would — Daddy sparrow
Bad customer service. App doesn't work at all. Waste of money. Doesn't even have all vechs in their system. Would not give refund after asked over and over because their system doesn't have my vech. Would not recommend this app to my worst enemy
★★★★★ Does not work at all — gstubbz
I tried with two different trucks, and with the correct information and gear ratios the app read that I was going well over 140mph when I was really doing 60mph. I tried with another truck that had a 6.55 gear ratio and the app complained that it was an unlikely ratio.
★★★★★ Pretty impressed! — Z31GOAT
I can plug the info that this app gave me into a 1/4 mile calculator, and the trap speed (which is the more accurate way to calculate power) is only off by 2.5mph from what my car actually ran at the track. I'm impressed! You need two things, a phone with a good g sensor, and you have to be able to plug in all the info the app asks for. The less accurate your car statistics are, the less accurate this app will be.
Happy I spent the money.
★★★★★ Waste of money — Beastk5
Does not work as advertised, nor does it work for automatic transmissions. Waste of my money, I want a refund.
★★★★★ Nice — Lp schools III
I have contacted the creator numerous times and he has helped me everytime!!
I recommend this app. With the instruction and information on the forum you can see muy progress that can very well help you. The creator is very responsive just as the app. Thanks!

- Fixed the calibration problem
- Fixed the crash when opening old simplified sheets
- Improved management of incomplete car profiles (with missing parameters)
1.5.0
2016-12-01
- Now you can get car parameter values from our car database : we invite you to update your car description in the car profile screen, this will automatically update all undefined parameters of your car profile with values from our database.
- All newly created car profile will be pre-filled with parameters from our database, if those parameters are available. Other parameters are left undefined.
- We have also improved the gearbox information screen. It's now possible to enter the speed at 1000rpm for a gear, instead of entering its ratio, when you don't know this one.
1.4.1
2016-08-29
- Now, if a measurement is considered not valid by the app, an explicit message is displayed to help you to understand what was wrong.
- We have also improved the gearbox ratios edition interface for advanced car sheet.
- Bug fixes and app stability improvements.
1.4.0
2016-07-01
- Now your car profiles are synchronized across all your devices through your PerfExpert Network account.
- Improvement of phone movement detection during the "WAIT" phase just after you press the "START" button : real phone movements are better detected to prevent starting the test, while strong vibrations no longer prevent starting the test.
- Added the measurement duration information to the test result
- You can connect PerfExpert to the 20Hz external GPS VBox Sport from Racelogic to perform Dyno and Timed Run measurements without the need to mount the phone inside the car, and without the need to stop the car before pressing the START button. To activate this feature, turn the VBox Sport mode to ON in the settings screen.
