Description

An app designed by and for weather enthusiasts, NOAA SuperRes Radar is the only app in that offers access to stunningly beautiful super hi-resolution radar mosaics for the continental US. SuperRes radar has 4 times the resolution of typical weather radar products (250 meters vs 1000 meters), so you will be able to view storm features that can't be viewed in ordinary radar apps. No other app delivers radar mosaics with this kind of accuracy in such an easy to use package. In addition to SuperRes Level 2 radar, NOAA RadarUS+ offers access to 3 km hourly forecast radar and the following features: - 3 and 6 day precipitation and pressure forecasts from NOAA weather models - Temperature overlay - Snow/mixed precipitation display (only on 1km base reflectivity radar layer) - 7 day forecasts and current conditions -- just press and hold for a second on the radar map. - Severe weather (flash flood, tornado, and severe thunderstorm) warnings. Tap on a warning box to display the full warning message from the National Weather Service. Note: these are *not* push alerts. The app must be open to view the warnings. - Cloud cover and satellite imagery for the continental United States - Advanced radar layers (echo tops, composite reflectivity, and storm total precipitation). - Play, pause, and step animations - Fast zoom in and zoom out - Choice of radar palettes - Multiple map styles (terrain, map, satellite, and hybrid) - Displays time of radar image either as absolute time or relative to the current time - GPS locator that finds and displays your current location - Adjust the transparency (opacity) of the radar or cloud cover overlays - Radar clutter filtering and smoothing - Automatic refresh when new radar or cloud cover data is available - Search for a location by zip code, city name, or address - Legend for radar and cloud cover overlays - Saves and restores your last location and zoom level Note: Radar coverage only includes the continental United States. Outdated and barely functional
I shouldn’t have listened to the boomer who told me to buy this app. It can hardly show you what the current weather is or what the forecast will actually look like, because it’s glitchy and isn’t getting consistent data. Interface is bland and the settings/different views aren’t really intuitive. Maybe this app was good a decade+ ago but there are way better options now. Don’t spend money on this one.

Uses the distorted Mercator Projection map
The map used is the inaccurate Mercator Projection map which is a distorted and inaccurate view of the land masses. It is meant to enlarge the land masses in the Northern hemisphere. Alaska is smaller than Mexico, and Greenland is substantially smaller than the size shown. Africa is small on the map, but is much larger. The Petersen’s Projection map is a better map to use.

It’s very good app and it’s worth the money this is my go to app for everything but one think I don’t like about it is how I can’t see the velocity and see where a tornado is so if you can add this feature it would be amazing

Why isn’t the app being updated?!?
This used to be my favorite weather app - I use composite reflectivity with storm tracks… now my app shows that it’s been 24 days since the radar had been updated in my area under those settings so it’s useless to me! Furthermore, upon further investigation it looks like it’s been 5 years since the app was updated? What’s going on? Please fix and i’ll give it 5 stars!

The DbZ is way exaggerated. It is raining lightly out right now, but the app shows that it is moderately heavy. Also, the storm cell tracking seems to have completely disappeared even though I have it activated. But good luck finding anything better

Light excellent radar app
Loved this for years because it will load and run when I’m on the water or in rural areas with weak cell signal. Other weather apps have more bells and whistles but when storms bubble up and you need quick reliable radar this is your best friend. Wonderfully lightweight at 5.2MB. Also shows TS and hurricane tracks, flash flood and storm/tornado watch/warnings.

Missouri has historically been in Tornado Alley, though climate change may be moving that southward. Since I am a Skywarn Weatherspotter, I use the app a lot. It has been a top performer for me.

Back a few years ago it would work some of the time at best. In recent years the winter precipitation is a joke to get to find on this radar. I have I-Phone 13 and this app obviously is not updated for IOS. I will delete it from my apps. Not worth my time.

Hasn’t been updated in 4+ years
This app use to work great but hasn’t been updated in 4+ years. It lags really bad and no longer shows snow/ice. It’s like the developer is no longer updating the app to fix anything. Please find another app that is updating and will continue to work properly. Paid for this one about 10 years ago and I will now have to get another app.

No Frills, Accurate, Super Res and Free!
I have used this great Weather Radar app for 12+ years on two different iPads (3rd generation and currently 5th). Obviously, I find it essential! The format is simple and just what you need to view instant and accurate high definition radar. If you want to see severe thunderstorm or tornado or flood warning NWS alerts, just turn on in the settings. Invaluable app especially if you live in or are traveling in an area where these tend to frequently occur. Instant current weather conditions and forecast with just a tap for any location in the USA. You won’t be disappointed, get it.

Needs Updating
Over 2 years since the last update, and it’s still my go-to for the best radar. Unfortunately, it’s showing its age as being designed for older devices. Not improving the UI in all that time makes me fear that it’s an abandoned app, and there’s a tiling issue with the radar at some scale levels.
