Ship Finder shows live moving ships on a worldwide map. The intuitive design combined with incredible performance puts you in control. Our incredible app performance means that you can see all tracked vessels at once - no clustering here! Simply tap a ship to see its name, type, photos, speed, dimensions and much more. Powerful features such as filters, search and the ability to save favourite ships are included. (You can choose Apple or Google maps too!). Add and browse bookmarks to saved locations around the globe to quickly navigate to areas or ports of interest. You can even use Augmented Reality (AR) view to identify ships out at sea using your device camera. Ship Finder works by picking up AIS ship feeds used by all passenger vessels, vessels over 300 tons and increasingly by smaller pleasure craft and yachts. This technology is actually faster than radar and is used by vessels for safety and navigation. Ship Finder provides near real time “virtual radar” AIS maps. Up until now we have been using an internet image search in Ship Finder. This has always produced a mix of results both good and bad. We have therefore taken the decision to turn this facility off in order to ensure that we only include photographs that are of both a known quality and appropriate. In the longer term we believe that this will ensure we retain a high quality user experience. We appreciate that in the short term this will mean many images are not included. We did this for Plane Finder 3 months ago and now have a database of 10,000+ aircraft thanks to you! Lacking coverage. Why is the Panama Canal showing zero marine traffic? The entirety of the Suez Canal. Both the southern,central and northern portions of which show zero traffic . South Korea and vicinity, no traffic shown. The three locations previously mentioned have some of the highest rates of shipping traffic in the world . Indian Ocean, South China Sea, mid Atlantic, mid Pacific Ocean no traffic shown. Kodiak Island, the Aleutian chain chain no traffic shown.

I am sad that this app locates less than 1/4 of the vessels I see from my home. I live near the Carquinez Straight in CA. Do NOT buy this app if you want to identify vessels in the Straight and perhaps other smaller ports, etc.

Down loaded Ship Finder Lite app first and was disappointed it did not show three cruise ships passing my hotel while vacationing in the Bahamas. So I downloaded for $4.99 the Ship Finder app with same disappointing results. Cannot not find a cruise ship tracking app that is any good. I wish there was a app like flight radar 24. Do not waste your money on this app.

This used to be an awesome app, the equivalent of Flightradar24 for ships. That was years ago, now it barely shows any ships at all: on an average day, it displays less than half those visible on Marine Traffic, so why bother?

Even if you pay $5 you get almost nothing.
I wanted to track a vessel that carries my container to Europe but after a few days in the Caribbean it is untracked and i can’t see where it is. I found more info online and for free. Please don’t waste your money and believe the description. It’s not much money but it’s not worth it.

Unless something happened with the download I can’t tell this app is completely and totally useless. I work in the Gulf of Mexico which means I have to go to Port Fourchon and locate boats there. It doesn’t show anything in the Gulf of Mexico. I don’t know how that’s possible because one of the biggest ports is there

Getting to be a disappointed user
I had high hopes for this when I upgraded from the Lite version, but the thrill is quickly leaving. The first thing I found was random boats traveling at 1177MPH. The developer acknowledges this is a bug. Now, with Crab season starting in Alaska I have been watching all the Deadliest Catch fleet moving into the area, but now ALL of Alaska has lost AIS coverage for this app only! This is a hobbiest viewer app, nothing more, and now one of the key places to follow boats in the US has been lost on this app. Why? Additionally when on the Calif coast looking at marine traffic I can also clearly see

Doesn’t track all boats
Can’t find my boat or dozens of other AIS boats in the Caribbean. Like, not a single boat in St Vincent and the Grenadines. It was cheap so I guess I don’t care but still bugs me I spent money on it.

Useless on the West Coast
Despite contacting support on the number of occasions, this app continues to be unreliable, which renders it basically useless? I am in LA Harbor, and while the app shows several boats in the area, mine is never listed as well as boats nearby that I have a visual on. I have a second ship locator app, and it is much more reliable, and also free.

To add to the frustration of not ‘finding’ ships I can see in front of me with my own eyes, now for the very few that actually show up, they disappear entirely. Ghost ships I guess. It’s hard to imagine an app that was less worth the waste of money. This app literally does nothing it was supposed to do.
