One of the better art galleries
I like pixiv a lot. It's where I post my stuff the most and I like that my uploads are kept to the original quality they were drawn in, but the mobile app can definitely be improved. I find it kind of a hassle I cant send or receive direct messages from the app- and have to do so in the browser instead- and have a similar issue with only being able to upload GIF animations on the computer. Other than that, it's really good for keeping an archive. The tagging system is helpful too.

Listen to your audience Pixiv
I’ve been using Pixiv since 2019, cool place to find your favorite artists. Lots of resources for learning to draw and selling your merch. Real shame they got rid of the Live feature which I thought was awesome to communicate with your favorite artists in real time. The app does tend to start to fail if you’re going through a lot of pages of saved drawings and sometimes it will just crash the app. Searching can be weird at times because if you don’t find the # for the name you’re looking for, it might not yield any results.

They literally pop up every 19 seconds or so and no one on mobile can even view art without an ad popping up. Horrible. The login system is ancient, settings are complicated. It’s like the developers DON’T WANT YOU TO use their app. You can’t see popular posts unless you pay. You can’t do ANYTHING ON THE APP OR THE WEBSITE that is actually useful unless you give into their corporate greed. I’d genuinely rather be reborn again if it meant pixiv was never introduced to me. went from simple banner ads that didn’t effect user experience much straight to full screen ads with no x to click to get away from it. i’m not wasting 30 seconds of my time for some ad, i’ll just stop using the app and use the website with an ad blocker for safari at this point. also $42 for premium? i was going to consider getting it if it was under $15 for a year but $42 a year for a art website is robbery. hopefully people stop using the app and switch to ad blockers on the webpage instead so they make less money than they did with the banner ads. edit: now the pop up ads happen after bet

Way Too Many Intrusive Ads
One of the worst apps in terms of pop-up ads, and it just gets worse. Any time you try to open TWO images, obnoxious intrusive ads clutter everything you do. Pixiv on mobile is now nearly unusable without a Premium subscription due to forced pop-up ads interfering with user experience. Ads would often contain 1-3 windows, and each window takes about 5-10 seconds to close. Some ads require user interaction to activate the timer to close the ad itself. These ads would often cover the entire screen every minute. Now it’s every 10-30 seconds? It’s insane.

…But this app has been rendered near completely useless without a paid subscription. Video ads used to occur every three viewed pieces, which is already insane, but in the last couple days, that number has dropped to one. One viewed work or interaction nets you one thirty-second video advertisement that takes up the whole screen. This is completely absurd. I will not be supporting Pixiv in the future. If you’re on mobile and want to use Pixiv, you’re better off using the website.

Forced Full Screen Ad Problem
The pixiv app hasn’t been as great since they implemented full screen ads at your inconvenience when browsing. These apps are terrible and genuinely unwanted as they are really trying to force users to get the premium service. Ads still appear here and there on the bottom of the screen and as a random pop up, which I don’t appreciate them having the ability to force open a web browser or the App Store. I tried it over and over, and every time I backed out it played a full screen add. I now see this app as unusable because I like to flip through pictures pretty fast but I can’t when a full screen add blocks my screen every time I move through them.

Completely unusable with ads
In some recent update they made the advertising ridiculously aggressive. I don’t mind banners and sponsored content in the feed or on the side, but now every 20 seconds you spend looking at art you will be interrupted by a full-screen pop-up ad that forces you to interact with it, so it turns out that about half of your time on the app would be spent looking at ads that block 100% of your screen. What were they thinking? This is the last time I use this app.

Started out great, but now there is way too many ads
I use pixiv pretty regularly, but now the mobile version has so many ads that I spend more time watching those than I do actually looking at art. Literally every time I click on a new picture, another video pops up. Now imagine my frustration when I click on the wrong picture, and I have to go back, click on the one I meant to click on, only to immediately get another ad pop up.

Used to be so good but the pop up ads are just too much, click a post, an ad, exit a post, an ad. There’s plenty of ads on the app already… pop up ads just ruin the experience of the app.
