What’s New Version 4.0.3

Version 4.0.3 fixes a graphics glitch when using the Marble tile art. Version 4.0.2 fixes a bug where the background would not change in Relaxation or Puzzle modes. Version 4.0.1 contains some small improvements to version 4.0 based on user feedback: - If your Scramble high score is above two million, you can now start a new Scramble game on progressively higher levels above 50. This change is to support very high level players. - On Scramble levels above 100, Tilebot may pause slightly less after reshuffling. This is a correction to the game play balance for very high levels. - Tilebot’s label now indicates when Tilebot is paused and for how long. - Small cosmetic improvements. Version 4.0 is updated to better support the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS, to keep Moonlight Mahjong working well into the future. There are new backgrounds, and Tilebot is now slowed down slightly when the player makes matches, giving the player a chance to catch up or get ahead if they’re “on a roll.”

Description

Moonlight Mahjong is Mahjong Solitaire in virtual reality 3D, designed specifically for the iPhone and iPad. Intuitive touch control allows you to tilt and turn, zoom in and out to match tiles in 3D. Play “arcade style” with progressively difficult levels and high scores, or relax with one of the non-competitive game modes. The gameplay is simple yet addictive. Moonlight Mahjong features four main types of play: • Scramble Mode: Match tiles faster than the automated opponent "Tilebot" through increasingly difficult levels. The board is automatically reshuffled when you run out of matches, making this game mode easy to start and fun, yet challenging on the higher levels. • Challenge Mode: Compete against Tilebot in full puzzle mode, with no automatic reshuffling, only undo. Challenge requires more strategy than Scramble. This is the ‘pure’ form of the game, but it is difficult! • Puzzle Mode: Solve puzzle boards with no time limit. Choose any layouts you like. This is the original game mode, what people usually think of as Mahjong Solitaire. • Relaxation Mode: Clear boards with no time limit and automatic reshuffling when out of matches. Perfect for when you're just not in the mood to strategize or rush. This free advertising-supported version of Moonlight Mahjong features five complete game modes (the main four, plus 'Lightning Mode'). The full version of Moonlight Mahjong offers a few additional features with no advertisements. Moonlight Mahjong is the original 3D Mahjong Solitaire on iOS, having debuted with the launch of the App Store in 2008. It has been played millions of times and was honored as a "Best Board Game" on the App Store.

Build 866981971v4.02024-06-27 22:40:22
Version 4.0 is updated to better support the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS. - Added new backgrounds. - Tilebot is now slowed down slightly when the player makes matches, giving the player a chance to catch up or get ahead if they’re “on a roll.” - An option to start a game at level 50 in Scramble mode is unlocked when a high score of 1,500,000 is reached. - Behind-the-scenes technical details: the app is now completely ported from Objective-C to Swift, and from OpenGL to Metal, and API use has been updated. This is to improve performance and keep Moonlight Mahjong working well with new devices and OS versions.

Build 816539494v3.2.22016-02-29 16:53:49
• Fixed an issue where Tilebot paused too long after reshuffling on very high levels. (Honestly, I missed this one because some of you appear to be much better at playing Moonlight Mahjong than I am. Sorry.) • This should (I hope) be the last bug fix update for a while. Thank you for the positive reviews; they are much appreciated. Since the reviews essentially disappear with each app update, it’s always helpful if you can update yours. In Version 3.2: • Lite version only: Switched to a different advertising provider. If you don’t like ads, consider purchasing the full version instead of playing the free Lite version. • When you lose a game in Scramble mode, you now go back only one level instead of three. (Please note: Re-playing the same level is not something that is going to happen. There needs to be some level of challenge to the game; otherwise it stops being a game. However, there is always Relaxation Mode.) • Achievements and Leaderboards are now shared between the Lite and full versions; so you can keep your high scores if you upgrade, or compare your scores to friends on either version. • Matches are now highlighted when you lose. • Support for full resolution on iPad Pro. • There is now a time penalty for taking screenshots; this is because the introduction of iPad multitasking made it a little too easy to cheat. On the other hand, there is no longer a time penalty for leaving the app. • Minor bug fixes and enhancements.

By popular demand (plea, really): If you cancel out of the Game Center login, you will no longer see the Game Center login. To sign into Game Center after cancelling, go to Options -> Player and turn “Game Center Login” back on, and then exit and return to the app; or go to the Settings app under Game Center and sign in. Also by request: If you attain the Dragon Master achievement (1,000,000 points in Scramble), you can now start at level 40. Starting at Level 30 in Scramble is now enabled when you reach the Green Dragon achievement at 500,000 points - down from 600,000 previously. You can now disable the parallax visual effect, if you don’t like it, under Options. Tilebot should now always pause during the Game Center sign in. This update is in direct response to user feedback. As always, your positive reviews are appreciated.
Build 731583002v3.1.22014-10-03 14:29:24
• Fixed a bug where the game would not resume properly after a full-screen ad. In Version 3.1.1: • Fixed a bug where layout statistics did not appear in the Layouts view on iPad. • Removed the "Multiplayer over Bluetooth" options in the Game Mode menu. Please use the "Game Center Multiplayer" options instead; they do the same thing except better, and Game Center now has an option to connect to nearby players. In Version 3.1: • Updated to support full resolution on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus • Updated for iOS 8. iOS 7 or later is required for this update. • Important fix for a bug where the level may not advance when the app is launched on iOS 8. • Losing in Scramble or Challenge mode now sends you back only three levels instead of five. • 58 new built-in layouts submitted by Moonlight Mahjong users. See the earlier release notes for the full list.

Build 49032635v3.0.12013-09-23 20:57:27
• This update reverses a minor change to the rules of which tiles are blocked, made in the previous version. Version 3.0 supports iOS 7 and contains many improvements inspired by iOS 7’s new design. See the Version History for a full list of changes.
Build 23233055v3.02013-09-16 19:27:20
Version 3.0 supports iOS 7 and contains many improvements inspired by iOS 7’s clean new design. • New standard tile art replaces ‘Engraved Marble’ as the default: The new standard tile art uses a much cleaner, subtler tile texture, which makes the tile details stand out clearly. This is combined with specular lighting and engraved detail for realism. • Completely reworked physics engine for touch movement: Moonlight Mahjong’s touch controls seemed pretty good for the last five years, but iOS 7 has raised the bar. Moonlight Mahjong’s new custom physics engine is more responsive and precise, and includes momentum and boundary effects. • Motion Effects: On supported devices with iOS 7, turning the screen shows a subtle 3D effect similar to the iOS 7 home screen. This is not used to play the game, it just adds a sense of dimensionality and makes the graphics ‘pop’. Plus it’s cool. • The default control scheme for new users is now “Single Finger Controls”: drag one finger on any tile to turn the board; drag one finger on the background to move the board. This is what used to be called the ‘Advanced’ control scheme; it makes it easier to play with one hand. The earlier standard control scheme is now called “Two Finger Controls” and is still available. The more obscure earlier touch control options have been removed, as they were not particularly useful and might confuse new users. • Cleaner game dialogs closer to the style of iOS 7: The new game dialogs are actually pretty close to the original Moonlight Mahjong dialogs… just better. • Full-screen ads are now used between levels on iPhone and iPod Touch with iOS 7, when available. When full screen ads are not available, banner ads are used, but they are now kept to the period between levels as much as possible. (Banner ads are required to appear for a certain minimum amount of time.) These changes are intended to get the ads out of the way while you are playing, making the free version of the game even better and allowing you to focus. The same changes have been applied on iPad; this means you may now see banner ads on iPad when full screen ads are not available, but again, mostly limited to between levels. • Improved documentation: The documentation is now a single page, which is much easier to browse and navigate. • Improved app icon: The app icon has been subtly redone in the proportions of iOS 7, using the new standard tile art. The icon is less obviously 3D than before, but not ‘flat’; 3D is fundamental to what this game is about. • There is a small change to the rules governing what tiles are considered ‘blocked’. Tiles one level above on the left are now considered to be on the left, and tiles one level above on the right are considered on the right. This slightly changes how some boards are played. (Note: This change will be undone in the next update. It was discovered a little too late that it makes a couple layouts less interesting, notably 'I Love Mahjong', so we'll go back to the original rule.) • Behind-the-scenes programming cleanup: Moonlight Mahjong is now over 5 years old, having launched with the opening of the App Store. The state of the art in iOS programming has advanced considerably in 5 years; it’s important for a number of reasons to try to keep up. • iOS 5.0 or later is now required.
Build 10750646v2.3.12012-09-19 23:21:25
- Support for iOS 6 and iPhone 5. - The minimum required iOS version is now iOS 4.3. First- and second-generation iPhone and iPod Touch are not supported in this update.
Build 7115943v2.32012-03-24 15:43:35
- Updated for full resolution graphics on the new iPad! - Increased resolution of the built-in backgrounds to look good on the new iPad. - When you lose in Scramble mode, the "Try Again" button goes back only 5 levels, instead of all the way back to level 1. (Assuming you made it past level 6.) - The "Lion Scramble" and "Dragon Scramble" game modes are replaced by "Start on Level 10" and "Start on Level 20" options in the Options menu, once you've reached 100,000 and 300,000 points in Scramble mode. This amounts to the same functionality as before, but is perhaps clearer. - A "Start on Level 30" option is added once you've scored 600,000 points in Scramble mode. - You can now add multiple background images via Instashuffle. - The "Change Backgrounds" switch is no longer turned off when you load a new background image. - Updated icon.
Build 4838818v2.2.22011-11-12 04:57:23
- Support for the Instashuffle app, which replaces the Moonlight Gallery app. Instashuffle is a simple way to browse Instagram images and load them as backgrounds in Moonlight Mahjong.
Build 4564562v2.2.12011-10-20 01:19:58
Version 2.2.1: fix to not show authentication error after user has canceled Game Center login under iOS 5.0. Version 2.2 adds support for loading backgrounds from the Moonlight Gallery app. Moonlight Gallery is a new app for browsing Instagram images, which can be viewed as backgrounds in Moonlight Mahjong. The new Gallery functionality requires iOS 5.0 or later.
Build 4401383v2.22011-10-12 15:06:00
Version 2.2 adds support for loading backgrounds from the Moonlight Gallery app. Moonlight Gallery is a new app for browsing Instagram images, which can be viewed as backgrounds in Moonlight Mahjong. The new Gallery functionality requires iOS 5.0 or later.
Build 3764903v2.1.32011-06-01 01:22:23
- New "Lion Scramble" game mode allows you to start Scramble on level 11 after you've reached 100,000 points. "Dragon Scramble" mode allows you to start on Level 21 after you've reached 300,000 points. - Added option to automatically change the background after each level. (If you're upgrading, you may want to turn this on.) - Added "Scores" in the Options menu, showing your high scores and recent scores on the device for the game modes that have point scores. - Fixed sound so that it is controlled by the volume buttons rather than the alert sound volume level. (You can still turn it off and on in the Options menu.) Version 2.x: The free version of Moonlight Mahjong is back, now supported by iAds. The re-invented Moonlight Mahjong adds new arcade-like game modes, Relaxation mode, over 150 layouts, more backgrounds, new tile artwork, support for Apple's Game Center with online Leaderboards and Achievements, support for iPad, iPhone 4 and Retina Display, and more. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE UPDATING FROM VERSION 1.x: This app now includes advertisements; that is how we can offer you all of the above for free. If you don't want to see the ads, then please, simply do not update. The full version of Moonlight Mahjong is available ad-free for a ridiculously low price.
Build 3569011v2.1.22011-04-05 03:30:55
- Added full-screen iAds between levels on iPads with iOS 4.3 and later, replacing the banner ads. (Full-screen iAds are not available on iPhone and iPod Touch at this time. If they ever become available, we'll look into adding them.) Version 2.1.1: - Added Lightning Mode from the full version. Lightning Mode is like Scramble Mode except Tilebot is twice as fast, matches are worth twice as many points, and higher-level layouts appear sooner. - Optimized for iPad 2. The default tile set on iPad 2 is Engraved Marble, since the new iPad has the graphics horsepower to support advanced per-pixel lighting at a full 60 frames per second. The default for other devices is still Plain Marble. - Realtime graphics antialiasing on devices that support it. This makes the edges of the tiles look better, even when moving the board. This was added with iPad 2 in mind, but it turns out it also works well on original iPad, iPhone 3GS and later, and later-model iPod Touches with iOS 4 or later. Version 2.x: The free version of Moonlight Mahjong is back, now supported by iAds. Build 3352109v2.12011-01-20 18:03:57
Version 2.1: - Added the Challenge game mode from the full version. - Added the Engraved Marble tile art from the full version. This tile set uses per-pixel specular reflection (a technical term meaning it's detailed and shiny) which requires advanced graphics, so it is only available on iPhone 3GS and later, iPod Touch 3rd generation and later, and iPad. - Added the add-your-own background option from full version. - Three new layouts ("Vault A", "Zigvault" and "Lockhorn") and one substitution ("Magic Pyramid" replaces "Linkd" in level-based modes; both are still available in non-competitive modes). - Fix for issue where background could occasionally disappear after an ad is viewed. - Thank you for helping make Moonlight Mahjong Lite a success! Version 2.0: The free version of Moonlight Mahjong is back, now supported by iAds. This new version adds a new arcade-like game mode "Scramble," Relaxation mode, over 150 layouts, more backgrounds, new tile artwork, support for Apple's Game Center with online Leaderboards and Achievements, support for iPad, support for iPhone 4 and Retina Display, and more. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE UPDATING: This app now includes advertisements; that is how we can offer you all of the above for free. If you don't want to see the ads, then please, simply do not update. Build 3218762v2.02010-12-15 01:35:47
The free version of Moonlight Mahjong is back, now supported by iAds. This new version adds a new arcade-like game mode "Scramble," Relaxation mode, over 150 layouts, more backgrounds, new tile artwork, support for Apple's Game Center with online Leaderboard and Achievements, support for iPad, support for iPhone 4 and Retina Display, and more. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE UPDATING: This app now includes advertisements; that is how we can offer you all of the above for free. If you don't want to see the ads, then please, simply do not update. The full version of Moonlight Mahjong is available ad-free for a ridiculously low price. PLEASE NOTE: If you have not signed into Game Center before, you may be presented with a sign-in dialog when you launch the game. If you do not wish to sign into Game Center, or wish to do so later, just tap "Cancel." Check out the Game Center app for more information. Game Center is available in iOS 4.1 and later on recent hardware. iOS 4.2 or later is recommended. The Game Modes in Moonlight Mahjong Lite are now as follows: Scramble Mode (the new default!): Score points by making matches faster than the automated opponent Tilebot, through increasingly difficult levels. Tiles are automatically reshuffled when you run out of matches, making this mode more about speed than strategy, although finding matches can be challenging in itself. The game ends when Tilebot finishes a board before you do. Puzzle Mode: The original "flavor" of Moonlight Mahjong. Solve puzzle boards with no time limit. Choose any layouts, but there are no high scores. Relaxation Mode: Clear boards with no time limit, and tiles automatically reshuffled when you run out of matches. A good mode for when you just don't feel like strategizing or competing.

All the others I tried are too easy and just get a bit boring after a bit. This one gets increasingly difficult due to the different levels. And although there are ads (I understand they need to make a living) they not tedious and they easy to click away, unlike a lot of other mahjong games.

Rating for Mahjong Lite
I absolutely love this version better than any. It's dimensional and it gets much harder as you get up into higher levels. If you like challenges this is your game to play. I will say sometimes I can see the person you’re paying against sometimes seems like it goes wayyy faster when you get to higher levels it feels a bit cheaty. But I came back to it and started over from scratch after getting to like level 230.

Often fails to reshuffle
I paid for the $1.99 version to eliminate ads, and am so frustrated that the game frequently fails to reshuffle, I search over, under and around looking for matches that are not there. Sometimes, when there are only a few tiles left, I will continually tap on tiles, and sometimes a tile will change to allow a match, and sometimes even a second match. Other times with only a few tiles left with no matches, the session ends with the tile bot completing its matches. Then, I see my remaining tiles with no matches showing have one or more tiles switch to show matches that were no existing before

Excellent
This is an excellent Mahjong game. It's varied and challenging and has two commercials. The ads that happen will close fairly quickly if I'm not interested. All in all, is the best mah-jongg game I have downloaded. The backgrounds are improving, but no I have selected a quiet choice, I still occasionally get too many objects that aren't in the Mahjong game. If I have old eyes, this can be frustrating. But I highly recommended as I have tried several games and it is by far the best.

The competing speed, too fast…….😂
I wish we could adjust the competing speed, It’s just too fast for me, and is making me nervous and stressed, But I really love this mahjong,😂 ———— This is another review I like to submit, few months after my first one…. I like this moonlight Mahjong, but it would be nice if we can adjust the speed, because not everybody can react so fast, I am 75, and could have a heart attack racing -trying to compete with that super-fast speed of the computer….🫣

Love the app, but some ads are a virus
An ad popped up between games saying… “your device can run faster. We have released the cleaner update that is required for every iOS device. If you don’t install the update, your apple device may run slower, and your battery may run over quicker. We strongly recommend that you install the app using the install button. This app will speed up your device, free up your memory, and protect your connection.” This looks like a very bad virus and needs to be investigated by Apple play store team and this developer.

Mostly good
Some of the layouts are problematic, but the game for the most part is good. One of the layouts has an error. It’s called sunshine and you’ll find it when you do that layout. One of the irritating things about the game is that if you set a background it’ll randomly change it on you, which is irritating if it distracts you from the game also the number of ads but if you take it off Wi-Fi, they don’t come up. They could use some updating of some of the layouts

Have loved this game for years, but now?
Played this for many years on my apple desktop. Recently put it on my iPad and everything started out great until a couple months ago, hence the 4 star rating (debated much less, but I love the game, when it works.). Issue began when I’d reach level 120, game froze with a blank screen saying it was shuffling tiles. Would never resume, so I’d elect to star over. No biggie. Then around level 110 it started doing the same thing. Now it’s doing it somewhere in the 90s level, as much as every week to couple of days. Enough is enough, please fix this glitch so I can resume enjoying this game!!

Excellent above all other of its kind
I Have reviewed this game app a couple years ago and with the same 5 star rating. Same positive rating today. The app has so so Many options of tile faces, layouts, as well as so many varieties of game play. What makes this game app different from ALL the other mahjong games is the ability to move the layouts up, down, Side to side , as well As enlarge the layouts to getter a larger view to find the possible matches. The navigation is so cool as well. TRULEY A 3D experience. AND … I HAVE seen maybe a HANDFUL of LESS THAN 5 SECOND ADS since I have been playing. Where do you see that tod

One major flaw, from my perspective
I enjoyed the visual look of this game, and the different modes of playing. I have had it for several years and play it periodically. One of the really frustrating things about this game is that if you run out of matching tiles, and are playing in the mode where it rearranges them at that point, a window appears in the middle of the screen, informing you that you were out of choices, and blocking your view of the tiles, as they rearrange themselves on the screen. Besides blocking your view of the tiles and your ability to play for approximately 2 to 3 seconds, you lose time because the tiles

why won’t you post reviews?
This app won’t even accept my accurate review. Is this a fault on the App Store or this app? Hard to tell—but I’ve seen more faults from the former. After political adds and a cheating game system that can finish a board in less than half a minute, all I can say is DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME getting invested because at a certain point the developer has decided the game needs to last as little time as possible to keep you playing, keep you watching ads, and keep money in their pockets. Good luck—in the worst sense. I’m sure if I said what I wanted this review wouldn’t get posted either.

Unique, best 3D mahjong and well balance difficulty IMO
This is the only ios 3D mahjong game I know that it ‘s time sensitive and gamer can play against a virtual opponent. My wife become addictive to it. It’s also free without pestering ads like other free mahjong app. The $.99 paid version is a steal, imo for such well thought, complex, high quality programming. Wish that there is some degree of setting so user can adjust the degree of difficulty, adjust timing, change tiles pictures etc. In brief! Well done, developper and keeps up with the excellent work.

Cheating
I have dumped this game as soon as I noticed the computer cheating. I know nobody cares and probably will not do anything about it. But it’s frustrating to put so much energy and time just to get cheated. Some people will say “I like the challenge” but this is not a challenge when you have no chance to win. NEVER AGAIN or until they change the program I will stay away.

I have been playing this game since you first established and up till now, you did improve a bit but the game freezes often! I’m in level 200+ and the speed on some levels are just ridiculous! It seems that you are running out of levels and the layout repeats itself. The tiles on some levels are way too much for our eyes and please even out the speed on each level and improve on the freezing soon! Hopefully you are reading the reviews and make improvements soon. Can you also advise that if I’ve paid for the game once on my old iPad, if I change to a new iPad, do I need to pay for the game

Keeping sharp..
When a guy retires there arrives a thought or two about mental acuity. Jobs tend to keep our minds active. Retirement can too, but your opportunities for mental gymnastics are your own to make. It’s a couch potato or rock climber, row boater or jet pilot kind of choice. This little game requires climbing and flying skills. It is fast. That pesky robot keeps pulling tiles and trying to beat you. I needed more than crossword puzzles in this blessed state of no time clocks. I found it.

Tilebot seems EVIL
I have been playing this game for over 5 years. It took me a long time to finally claw my way to level 40.. I do not know why but level 40 will not come up I always have to start at 30. BUT what I have spotted in the past month or two is no matter how fast I am, somehow het whether it claims I am out of matches and I can see I am not it will reshuffle prematurely just the slow me down. He always wins and can not get get past level 16. This is BS. I am suspicious when there are long long long delays to give me a shuffle like it is starving me off so I can not play, then suddenly it will kick

What happened???
I've been playing this game for years! Back when losing set you back 7 levels, then 3, now 1? Now the board freezes. I click on tiles and it freezes for a couple of seconds while I watch tilebot make several matches, either catching up or surpassing me, thus I lose and am set back and back and back. Before this update, I was at level 79. I have yet to get back to that. I'm stuck between levels 61-65, continuously sent back due to the freezes. And when tilebot freezes, I can also catch up or surpass BUT (!!!) and this is a big BUT (!!!) it doesn't matter bc I could be down to just a few matc

This is a very addicting game and I had been playing this for years and even paid to have the version without any ads. Then I bought a new iPad and am now back to original, with ad interruptions almost every game. Would like you to put a PAUSE button for stopping when needed. Also, may I suggest a RELAX mode for people who just want to play and relax but not challenge oneself! The speed on the tilebot is so uneven that sometimes I don't know how I could have failed! I've reached over level 200 but now cannot advance more than level 120!! Please try to amend and reduce the tiles so it won

Best game of MAHJONG ever!
I know a lot of people say this game cheats and isn't fair with the challenges but I enjoy the challenges immensely!!! YES, it does get difficult as one goes higher in the games but if it didn't wouldn't we just get board with it? Oh and to those who think the game cheats, it dosen't , plain and simple. There IS a solution you're just missing it! As you play and get faster on the lower levels keep percevering to attain greater speed and accuracy. I love this game!!!**********************************!!!

Latest bug fix doesn't work
At high levels (I am at 51) tilebot still freezes and does not generate the next board. The wait is frustrating and annoying but the only option to continue play is to go back to level 40. This essentially ruins the game. Also, I don't like the latest format that makes the game increasingly difficult as you progress. Even though you go back only 1 level when you lose, it has become ridiculously hard at high levels. The game is definitely less fun now. Just clawed my way back to Level 58 after being forced to restart at Level 40. The thing is frozen again and is not generating the next level.
