A Better Routeplanner (ABRP)

If you want all the bells and whistles that this app could give you, you need to pay annually or monthly. But some people may not be driving long distances every week or month, so my problem is that. I wish there was an option for people that don’t drive far that frequently, but could still maintain a premium subscription and benefit from the app.

The big picture Other routers give either the nearby or choose the long distance best case according to preselected criteria that may not apply to time of day, meals. Toilet or driver fatigue. This one does! Near and far along the route. Three cheers. Five stars.

Planning is very accurate, features are super convenient, makes road trips so much easier. Definitely worth paying for.

I was excited to try ABRP for a trip to a new area for the long weekend. We know nothing of the area, so relying on charging with the app was essential. I signed up for a 30 day trial, thinking that I would get a yearly membership if it worked out. Well, the trial cut me off after 7 hours. There is not live support. So, we are just stuck without the features we need for essentially the entire trip. If you need reliability for your trip, ABRP is not your app.

This had to be the worst app I have used with my EV. It tried to route me to a charger that was out of range, regardless of what I did and settings I changed it kept trying to route me to an out of range charger I had to set my min battery to 40% before it added an in-range charger, but then there were more problems. On top of trying to route to out of range chargers, it also routed me to an incompatible Tesla charger (I have the Tesla app and an adapter). Not to mention it forces you to buy the premium version to use with CarPlay. I switched back to using Google Maps; will never use this

I regularly use ABRP to plan for and dream up our long distance road trips. Had noticed an issue that was causing non-optimal routing in our 800v EV. After writing a description of the issue in an app review, within 48hr received an email from the development team indicating issue had been addressed and fix. I have now upgraded to premium to show my support for this great team who is focused on user. Thank you

This app works well about 75% of the time. It won’t allow me to update the current battery manually while in route. Sometimes, it completely resets it to a full charge too. It also will randomly send me to the exist past the charging station and have me backtrack. It is maddening. It seemed to work a little better a couple months ago. The concept is great and it is helpful *some* of the time. There were a few times that I started to get worried about the battery getting too low because of the poor navigation.

I just used ABRO on a road trip yesterday, using a Bluetooth OBD dongle for the first time, and it was great. I particularly appreciated that in the corner of the map was the actual current battery level and the predicted battery level on arrival, which updated in real time based on changing conditions. It was really helpful not just to have an initial prediction, but to confirm it or see how it changed based on realtime monitoring. With it, I was able to determine that I would indeed get home without needing to top up even after traffic made me change routes.

Helped with a 1700 mile road trip. Still don’t completely understand how it works and trying to learn. I like the visual of where you’re at and what’s around you. I cannot get the app to sync with my Mustang Mach e range and miles; therefore, one time my car said there wasn’t enough range to make it to the next destination. Several times the navigation would tell us to exit highway 10 yet get right back onto highway 10. That was a little annoying.

I used to really like ABRP, but removing or hiding the trip charging cost feature has made the app much less useful for me. One of the main reasons I used ABRP was to quickly see an estimated total charging cost for a trip, and now I either can’t find it or it no longer shows reliably. That feature was extremely helpful for planning long EV road trips and budgeting before leaving. Without it, the app feels incomplete and more frustrating to use. I don’t want to dig through every charging stop or guess the cost manually — the total trip cost should be easy to see. Please bring back the clear

I have never seen a more confused UI in my life. Just start over. Next time use a simple project file metaphor, where you can load and save projects, but have those buttons be accessible from anywhere in the app. Use entry fields with acknowledgments. On the web interface prevent the user from hitting a single button (left arrow) and losing hours of planning work. Poof gone! This app and web site are so mind numbingly unintuitive. I would advise anyone to avoid this app like the plague. Sadly, it is probably still the best app for EV trip planning. If you do nothing else, fix the plan loading

No bs. No ads, no upsells. Just quality results and thoughtful filters. Intuitive and easy. Every car company should pay to have this software installed on every EV. No brainer. Get this app.

This is an extremely useful app. I am new to EV road trips and this is an invaluable tool. My first trip was an adventure. It in clouded charging stations at dealers - who wouldn’t let me charge. You can add specific vendors to the app and that helps.

Ask a question and within 24 hours you get an immediate answer. Very helpful and quick replies. This is my first choice application when sitting down at home and using ABRP to pre-plan a multi day trip, so I know in advance, hotels or motels I want to reserve.

This app is missing a lot of DC Fast Chargers. To test this app out, I plugged in two different long distance trips and it came up with routes that made no sense and send me way out of my way to get there. Plugshare doesn’t have this problem. As well, I looked in this app to find some of my favorite DCFC that I use on routine trips and they were completely missing from this app. I like the interface of this app, but if it is going to give me bad routes, it’s not very useful then.

Haven’t figured out the features yet but have deemed it accurate. Maybe I’ll even buy into it. I phase it out and in with the Apple app, being sure to compare and need to see what I can purchase more. I’m reactant to just buy because if advertisement and have not encountered many. I feel smart for installing this app, I hope I can trust it. The fidelity was intact and the description of data sharing although vague, is certainly something that is common.

A Better Routeplanner (ABRP) has quickly become one of my go‑to tools for planning EV trips. It’s smart, flexible, and surprisingly accurate, especially when you’re trying to squeeze the most efficiency out of your route. Whether you’re driving a Tesla or any other EV, ABRP adds a level of control and insight that most built‑in navigation systems simply don’t match. I run it alongside my OEM App for comparison purposes. It’s a great addition to any EV Owners Toolbox!

If you charge more than the suggestion the app doesn’t automatically readjust. If you have a screen in the car it doesn’t suggest a new route. It only asks to readjust the route on your phone but if you don’t know to check your phone, you stay on the original course. The entrance to 95 in Monroe Township, NJ has changed or the app is confused. It tells you to take a right onto the turnpike but there is no right to take. The entrance to North and South NJ Turnpike is on the left. I made two U turns before realizing the app way wrong. Other than that app worked great, just not perfect.

There is a major issue with this app, even though I’m paying monthly. The app recommends stops which are not optimal and then does not allow you to delete them even though you add more stops to it it keeps the original recommendation in place even though you created another step 5 miles down the road. There is no way to delete. I would totally recommend to avoid this app.

The only thing that kind of works is the routing itself. But in my testing I was suggested chargers which are well known to be unavailable. Also, I added my car which is 800v and all the charging times it shows are wrong. For example at a Supercharger it shows I’ll get max charging speed.. in fact I only get 125kw which means it’ll take about twice as long. Also I decided to try premium. When attempting to interact with any premium feature in the app, it literally did nothing. Tap a button like “Connect with Enode” it just does nothing. I ended up profiling the app and it seriously is a button

I paid for an annual subscription in January. It worked great with HondaLink for about three weeks then it stopped working and a BRP support is blaming Honda link. But my HondaLink app has actually been working much better than before with quicker updates ABRP no longer provides me updates to my mileage battery percentage so essentially useless for why I purchased it. I would not use if you’re a Honda owner. locating charge centers works really well. That’s a positive.

7.0.x is cleaned up considerably. It generally functions well. But it still misses on some things. I set 20% minimum SOC at charger arrival and it still generates scenarios where the charge is 10% upon arrival. I really don’t like this. I’m paying $4.99 a month for the premium version. What good is it if I have to throw out half the route options?

Really disappointed in the removal of the “more stops, less time at each charger” to “less stops, more time at each charger” slider. This was my favorite feature and primary reason for using ABRP.

This app used to be incredibly helpful. With the newest release, their development team has stripped out a lot of features in favor of a more streamlined UX. Admittedly, it looks prettier - I didn’t use it because it was pretty though; I used it because it was a powerful tool. It’s too bad they took something great and actively decided to make it middling.

I would like to be able to make notes to regarding the features I need. Like right now I am in my Ioniq6 going to the next charger. I would like to enable preconditioning but for it to work I need to set the cars map guidance to the EV stations address. I can not find it in the ABRP app or the cars Navigation system. Please add that data.

I’ve used ABRP for >2 years. It is often helpful and sometimes frustrating. However, the data it gives me helps to inform my drive. This version includes a much easier to use interface. This is a very welcome change and I look forward to my next trip.

This app is an absolute game changer. I am on a trip from Texas to Ohio and then to Chicago. This app flawlessly guided me from stop to stop and never left me stranded. So impressed with the thoughtful design. I bought the Bluetooth dongle and highly recommend it. (Get the $75 one). Worth every penny!

Maybe I’m trying to impose my preference too much but for a trip where I know the one waypoint charger I want to use. I just want the app to tell me how much I need to charge at that waypoint. I was having to fight the app too much to say “this and only this stop”. It asks me to spend 1 minute at that stop and then drive thirty minutes to spend 12 minutes at another stop.

It works fine for a while until they update the app. Then for a few desperate updates it fails completely. Years old charging stations disappear from the app, sometimes even whole networks. Customer support treats paid customers unprofessionally. They still survive because they are the only third party app worldwide. It got worse after Rivian purchase.

I never leave reviews but I just traveled from NJ to CA using this app and I wouldn’t have been able to without it. Highly recommend.
