What’s New Version 1.20.9

With this update, a feature that has been requested by many users over many years now: a combined shopping list! You can now switch the shopping list to combine duplicate ingredients for different dishes under a single entry. Shopping for some egg mayo sandwiches today and a French omelette tomorrow? You no longer need to check off eggs multiple times when you just bought a single box. This feature has taken a long time to implement because we have experimented with many different approaches. It's not easy to make a complicated combination of different amounts and different units (for example, 100ml of milk plus 3tsp of milk) easy to read, while still allowing you to check off only parts of the combined ingredients. But we think we have found something that works well. Please let us know what you think!

Description

Build 846541617v1.19.82022-01-11 14:07:04
We fixed a bug related to adding ingredients to dishes. Please accept our apologies for letting this one slip in!
Build 845037021v1.18.132021-10-30 14:06:29
This version adds support for the latest Apple devices.
Build 842642038v1.18.122021-10-29 20:44:52
General performance improvements and a few potential bugs removed.
Build 840043215v1.18.72021-01-15 16:44:21

Build 839873721v1.18.62021-01-03 00:10:41
We fixed a bug where you couldn't switch an ingredient's units from metric to US or vice versa, if the ingredient's current unit was universal (i.e. tsp, Tbsp etc).
Build 839630827v1.18.32020-12-14 18:10:12
We have begun a small redesign of the editor screens ('modals'), to make better use of space and improve usability. This is part 1 of that process – you will notice that we've moved the close/cancel button out of the way, in preparation for future changes to come.
Build 839473024v1.17.52020-12-03 15:17:58
This version brings the following improvements: • We have now disabled the 'gestures' which allowed you to swipe down on the editor views to dismiss them. This was causing people to lose data they'd entered which is frankly very annoying. Really sorry it took us so long! • Support for the new iOS devices • Some notifications weren't getting through – hopefully this is fixed now • Some improvements to look and feel
Build 837864081v1.16.92020-09-20 04:38:24
This release fixes a bug with the algorithm that chooses the language used for dates in MealsUp, based on the list of acceptable locales set on your device.
Build 837769801v1.16.82020-09-15 20:48:01
We have improved performance and stability by upgrading various internal and third party libraries.
Build 836608085v1.16.22020-06-28 19:06:01
We have vastly improved (we hope!) the way you edit your dishes’ ingredients and their amounts. This has always been a pain point with MealsUp and we’re thrilled to have found the time to address it. As always, feedback is extremely welcome – just open Settings in the app!
Build 836205524v1.15.02020-05-30 20:43:34
As requested by several MealsUp users, you can now choose whether or not to include ingredients in your printouts. If you've never used this feature before, just tap the printer icon at the top-right of the Menu screen.
Build 836193142v1.14.42020-05-29 19:04:01
>> This patch release fixes a bug which happens when trying to invite other users to your home. ––––– Release notes for v1.14.3 We have begun a redesign of various parts of MealsUp, and we intend to release these changes gradually as and when they are ready. The first is in this release, alongside another much-requested feature! • All modals have received a refresh. Modals are those views which pop up from the bottom of the screen, for example when you add a new dish or schedule a meal. We have removed the "floating box" that holds all the modal content, so that the content can take up the full width of the screen. This makes much more sense as it gives your ingredients and dishes the full space of your device's screen, meaning better readability and less scrolling. • You can now delete dishes! This has been requested more times than anything else, but it was a hard problem to solve as so many other things (scheduled meals, shopping list items etc) relied on dishes aways being available.

Build 834435147v1.12.102020-01-21 16:05:37
A belated Happy New Decade to all MealsUp users! This release brings 2 major new features: 1. Dark mode! Our designer has been quite overworked lately so there may be some tweaks to the colours in the near future, but we wanted to get this out as soon as possible because using MealsUp in the evenings has become a little painful on the eyes for those of us who have fully embraced dark mode apps. 2. More home admin features. When you create a home, you are now marked as the owner of that home. This gives you the ability to remove other people from your home, which should reduce the number of people who have to contact us to do this for them. It also makes it easier to delete your account yourself – just remove everyone from your home, then you will be able to delete your account automatically in the app. Not that you would ever want to, of course...
Build 832781559v1.12.32019-09-16 20:26:49
This version simply adds support for the new iPhones.
Build 831810082v1.10.272019-06-26 21:33:31
This release fixes an issue some users have been having with login. We're really sorry this happened!
Build 831364670v1.10.242019-05-23 13:07:42
We have added haptic feedback to the Shopping List, and to the Mealtimes list in the Settings tab. As always, all feedback is very welcome!
Build 831163890v1.10.192019-05-06 13:42:37
We have been rewriting our core architecture to use a new programming language called ReasonML. This will allow us to develop new features more quickly, with more code safety, and less chance of unforeseen bugs entering the app. The first new feature added is the ability to rename your mealtimes. Find it in the Settings tab! We have also used a new approach to loading different parts of the app – you should notice a quicker initial start to MealsUp. If you notice any slowdowns elsewhere in the app, or other issues, please get in touch via the Settings tab.
Build 830894441v1.9.132019-04-07 21:54:48
This version fixes a crash one user was experiencing in connection with some online recipe links.
Build 828741284v1.9.122018-09-27 19:41:19
This update fixes an issue with entering Chinese characters into text inputs throughout the app (thanks to our user for reporting this!). It also provides what should be a noticeable performance boost when interacting with your data (marking items as bought, scheduling meals etc) by not updating the dashboard unless it's actually on-screen.
Build 828690472v1.9.112018-09-24 13:56:20
This is a tiny update that simply includes support for the new iPhone devices.
Build 828442083v1.9.102018-09-03 18:14:46
Version 1.9 is focused around a new feature which we’ve been thinking about for a long time. Suddenly, about a month ago, we worked out how we could do it, so here it is! • When you are adding a new dish, or editing an existing dish, MealsUp now intelligently suggests ingredients that you might want to add. Just choose the ones you want from the list that appears above the keyboard. These suggestions are based on an anonymised statistical model of common ingredients. • This has allowed us finally to get rid of the autogeneration of ingredients that happened when you were typing the name of your dish. This was sometimes useful, often wrong, but we didn’t want to remove it until we had something better in place. • You can now pull down on the ‘add recipe’ and ‘schedule meal’ modal views to dismiss them. Modals are those boxes that pop up in front of the main app. As always, please get in touch via the ‘Settings’ tab with any feedback.
Build 827798740v1.8.232018-07-11 05:48:06
This update brings the following improvements: • We have significantly improved the performance of the Shopping list. We use it ourselves every day and were starting to find it a little slow so we’ve spent some time to significantly streamline how it works. • We were reminded by a MealsUp user that you can’t select portions of an SMS message in an iPhone, only the whole message. This made inviting people to join your home difficult, so we’ve rewritten the share-code input to accept the whole invitation message rather than just the share-code. This will only affect you if are planning to invite someone to join your home, and you don’t need to do anything, it will all be made clear to the invitee. Until next time!
Build 827545233v1.8.62018-06-16 21:13:10
This update brings the following improvements, and one sad goodbye: • I can’t imagine why you would want to, but you can now delete your account automatically from the Settings tab, rather than contacting us to do it manually (unless you have more than one member in your home, or more than one home, in which case we still need to do it manually for now). • We use MealsUp ourselves every day, and have been getting frustrated recently with the slow initial loading of the app. So we set about to fix it, and we have now significantly improved the initial loading time. This will be particularly noticeable if you have used MealsUp for a while and have lots of dishes/meals/groceries. However, this has meant that we have had to say goodbye to the ever faithful, and incessantly bouncy, Tommy the tomato. You fulfilled your role with gusto, Tommy, but the time has come to set you free. • We have tried to clear up some misconceptions about the shopping list free trial. We will never charge you automatically – in fact, there’s no way for us to be able to do that – so starting the free trial is entirely free of consequences. It's not a subscription, or a commitment. Behind the scenes, it simply flips a switch, turning on the shopping list functionality for a limited time. When it runs out, you simply won’t be able to use the shopping list any more until you make the (very reasonably-priced) in-app purchase. (This small contribution is our only income and the only way we have to cover all of our costs). Until next time!
