Our mission became a reality when the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) asked Michael McManus a simple question. “How can we present the Catholic Church on television?” In March of 1998, a tradition was born when Bishop John Sherlock, the first Chair of the National Catholic Broadcasting Council (NCBC), celebrated Mass at St, Michael’s Cathedral and broadcasted it across Canada. Our purpose is clear... Pope Francis said that the Mass is the very mystery at the centre of our salvation. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council has been connecting the Catholic faithful together through the mystery that is the Daily TV Mass since 1988. With the assistance of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the leadership of the late Bishop John Sherlock, Michael McManus, our founding Executive Director, worked with a team of people to bring the Mass to TV each day reaching Catholics across Canada. With the invention of the internet the reach of the Daily TV Mass is now worldwide and our commitment remains to build the community of the faithful by keeping them connected.
