What’s New Version 2026.1.1
Fixed issue with Slow Shutter mode
Description
CameraPixels is a unique manual photography app. The premium tools and intuitive UI make CameraPixels the best choice for professional mobile photographers. CameraPixels participated in Berkley Eclipse Megamovie 2017 thanks to its extensive raw bracketing.
All-in-one
=============
CameraPixels is all-in-one capture solution, that supports multiple photo and video capture modes. Among them are Bracketing, Slow Shutter and Time-lapse modes. CameraPixels has the most advanced bracketing available on the iOS platform, which includes exposure and focus bracketing.
Best for macro photography
=============
With CameraPixels you can capture the best macro shots, be it a single image or a series of images, called focus bracketing, which can later be combined into one all-in-focus photo (requires external app for focus stacking). If you have an external macro lens, let CameraPixels save its name to the EXIF data for you, so later you can always remember which lens was used. Currently CameraPixels supports Olloclip™, Loupe System™ and Moment™ lenses.
Best for professional HDR photography
=============
CameraPixels has the most advanced exposure bracketing on iOS. With up to 15 images per bracket you can capture even the most difficult lighting situations. CameraPixels support auto-, iso and shutter-brackets, with an optional flash frame. The captured images can be used to create stunning HDR photos using your favorite professional HDR software.
Intuitive UI
=============
CameraPixels has a simple and efficient UI. The most important information is always in front of your eyes, and this allows you to avoid surprises like an unexpected flash fire or the wrong output photo or video format. Stop being distracted by the uncertainty of the settings, concentrate on your capture!
ISO/Shutter priority modes
=============
CameraPixels is among a few photography apps that support advanced exposure modes like ISO and Shutter priority. These modes are indispensable during dynamic photography when there is no time for adjusting manual exposure.
Histogram and clipping warnings
=============
The histogram is a great tool to estimate your exposure. It can show you if the photo has under-exposed or over-exposed areas. Clipping warnings, on the other hand, can show you exactly where those under and over-exposed areas in your photo are.
Depth capture
=============
On dual/triple-camera devices, CameraPixels can capture depth information alongside the colour photo. If the photo has depth information, in the preview window, two additional buttons appear (depth and portrait) that allow you to inspect the depth of the image and apply it to simulate an aperture.
Presets
=============
CameraPixels was designed for professional photographers that value efficiency of their workflow. The unlimited presets, including the possibility to expose them to Widget make CameraPixels the ultimate photography tool.

Build 841123045v2021.22021-03-30 19:29:03
Manual focus:
--------------
Focus peaking has been moved closer to where it makes sense. Now you can switch between focus peaking modes (OFF, TRANSIENT, PERSISTENT) by tapping a button on the left side of the value selector when adjusting the focus. Together with the focus peaking, we also added a focus loupe option, which can be controlled by the button on the right side of the value selector.
External lenses:
---------------
In this release we added support for Loupe System lenses. The name of the lens is added to the LensModel in EXIF header
Bug fixes:
----------
- Enhanced processing was disabled for the manual exposure mode to prevent unexpected iso/shutter speed values in EXIF header
- Fixed the exposure bracketing mode bug for processed output formats (JPG/HEIC) which sometime would produce images with clipped highlights
- Fixed the bug with focus and exposure reticles being visible even when manual modes are used
- Small visual enhancements

Build 839939956v2021.12021-01-20 15:32:08
Welcome the first release of 2021. In this release:
Support for ProRAW format.
=====================
On iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max you can now select ProRAW format in Photo, Focus Bracket, Exposure Bracket, and Combined Bracket capture modes. The ProRAW format can be combined with JPG and HEIC processed formats too (but not TIFF at the moment). Always remember that the ProRAW format takes a considerable amount of space on your iOS device and takes longer to capture and process.
Front camera mirror option.
====================
Many of you requested a possibility to have the output of the front camera in a mirrored orientation. Now you can activate the Mirror Front Camera setting in the CameraPixels setting screen. When the option is activated, the output photos and videos will have the same orientation as you see it in the viewfinder.
External lens selector.
====================
The CameraPixels app is top-rated among focus stacking enthusiasts, and it's not uncommon to use an external lens in such photography. In this release, we introduce the external lens selector (Olloclip lenses) that allows saving the external lens name to the EXIF header of each captured photo. We'll be adding new external lens support in future releases.
Bug fixes
===================
We also fixed a few bugs that sneaked inside the previous build. If you find a bug or have suggestions on how to improve the CameraPixels, please don't hesitate to contact us at support@camerapixels.app

Perfect for me
I’ve been testing out a bunch of different camera apps, and this is one of the very best. Especially for bracketing and macros, none of the others would give me more than 3 exposures without subscribing. Thank you for this app, it’s perfect and I love the interface.

It’s been 9 months: how about an update!
Please update. The 5x camera in ProRAW looks terrible in low medium light. Of course I have better apps that I use for pro work, but having some variety helps. So…. Update.

My DSLR is OUT!
I LOVE this app! I purchased the PRO version a while ago, but never got around to learning or using it. I love to do HDR photography and real estate images and just kept using my “big” camera out of habit. No more! This app allows my phone to do everything I can do with a DSLR. Couldn’t be happier!

Bug Error 15 Pro max
The app has an error where when shooting with the telephoto camera a shadowy black bar appears along the long side of images. This artifact is not present when using other manual camera apps so I know it is a bug with just this app.
I bought this thinking I could do manual exposure and take 48 megapixel photos with my iPhone 15 pro max but nope... when I select 48mp it locks out manual controls, only allows automatic. This is disappointing and I don't understand.

Bracket existing photos?
Great app. I actually bought it to stack existing exposure bracketed photos—I don’t think that’s possible with this, however, maybe in a future update? I will use it now with my iPhone now and in the future it would be cool to stack existing photos from my ‘real’ camera too:)!

Brilliant bracketing app
This is what I’ve been searching for forever. Best part is the near instantaneous and simultaneous exposures, avoiding unwanted motion between shots. I didn’t need to pay for the pro version, but I did just to support the developer. Well done!

Not saving images
I just got this app to replace another that has seen better days (and fewer bugs). It looks great, but doesn’t save images.

No HDR or Photo stacking in app
I purchased this hearing things like “all-in-one” and seeing a sample photo of focus stacking on the Apple store as well as a sample photo of HDR stacking on their website homepage shown inside the app.
This is misleading people to think that the app can stack multiple photos into HDR or stack multiple focus photos with focus stacking. It’s not clearly stated which made it a waste of my time that this is a “capture only” app.
The issue I have is if someone uses the app to capture multi focus photos and then is forced to buy third party software to stack those photos, then why would someone

Not saving raw/proraw after update
This was working a few days ago but not after the update. Whether it wants to save a copy of the photo at all in any format is totally a coin toss. Sometimes the new picture shows up in the bottom left thumbnail but when you tap on it it’s not there you only see the most recent photo you had before you tried taking the new one.

Ridiculous
Great app ! Ive tried a few and this one is my favorite BUT the dumbest thing is that i’ve lost countless videos using this app… why ??? Because unless you press the “record” button to end the video, the file doesn’t get saved (facepalm). If your phone slips out your head, if you press any other buttons (like a side button) on accident then guess what ?! That clip is gone… lol… other than that great app smh

I’ve gone through many camera apps, and this one does the most!
After using Halide Camera for a while, this app has so much more capability. The exposure bracketing can allow for amazing dynamic range for editing even on old iPhones. Being able to do focus bracketing makes macro shots way better, and the burst interval is great for shooting time lapses in RAW. I just wish the burst interval would go longer than one second max. Other than that this app does everything I would possibly need for taking pictures.

Amazing little App to get the most from your iPhone Camera
This app is a must have for any photographer looking to get basic DSLR-like functionality out of your iPhone camera. Simple to use interface, reliable operation and! ...actual quality tech support via email from the Camera Pixels team. Don’t think twice, this app is a must-have.

Not as good as it used to be.
As a semi-pro landscape photographer, the older version would zoom the view when manual focusing. Latest version does not and focus peaking is useless on such small sensors with limited sharpness and lots of depth of field. The app also now outputs DNG files in a random alphanumeric string. If you shoot a burst, the files are not sequential when loaded in the PC.
I love how it does focus stacking with exposure bracketing. Overall great app if they brought back manual focus zoom and fixed the file naming issue.

Seems like a great app but have question...
Once I have my three bracketed photos, how do I go about making a single hdr image from them. Is this process built into your app or do I need to use an additional software program or app? If it it the later, what program do you recommend?

No HDR?
I bought the app thinking it would do HDR. There is a bracketing mode but it doesn’t merge to make an HDR photo. $5.99 down the drain.

i found this app searching for a camera app with preset capability. (i’m shocked that this isn’t a more standard feature). it’s a robust photo and video app and is well worth the price. (i hope that development is still going forward with the new iphone 11 pro camera.)
sometimes the app locks up & closes out but thanks to the “remember capture mode” & “capture settings” it makes up for the occasional crash.
i’ve paid for at least 20 camera apps over the years. this one is my go to
