Will BS3 ever come to iPad?
Banner Saga is one of the few games that I’ve replayed several times and own on several platforms. My favorite platform for this series is iPad! For several reasons, it just feels right. Controllers and PC/Mac are awkward in ways that make the iPad with the touch screen just ideal. But here we are in 2025 and BS3 on iOS is still nowhere to be seen. Any chance we might see it someday?

Enthralling
This game series has fascinated me for years. It is intricate, involved and difficulty. I cannot play it when as a second screen distraction because it is entirely too distracting! It is not for everyone, as it requires some relatively deep thinking and patience. The game has infuriated me infrequently but when I win these challenges, I feel validated by myself. Such an amazing series. As a lover of Tactical RPGs, The Banner Saga really is the cream of the crop when it comes to storytelling, creative mechanics, and it just looks good setting such a bleak tone with quite a bit of replayability… I will forever be disappointed that we aren’t able to finish the original trilogy on mobile. I even own the series on PC, but would still like the chance to play it through on mobile, too.

Great game, better than the first
The story has some real weight to it. You really feel like the world is ending and you feel even more powerless when your choices end up killing clansmen, and even worst, when one of your decisions permakills one of your hero characters. The battles push you harder and further than the battles in the first game. Some abilities have been added and some like the shieldmaster(or what ever the class is called) have been nerfed but are still viable. The new hero and enemy types add some welcome variety. I **really** loved banner saga 1 - 5*. However I played it about 4 years ago, and clearly some things have changed in BS2, notably around save and load mechanics. First, I get to a battle which is utterly unwinnable. Not “hard” but “impossible”. This is bad enough. (some woman we picked up who then ambushes you in the snow. You have no choice of characters. it assigns 3 rubbish level 1 characters to your party who are always eliminated on turn 1, no turn order, and the tactical situation is impossible. Buy the series games like I said. Some of the best money you will spend on games period. Play the first game first. Well duh.... but these games are great. Waiting for the third installment to come to ios. Amazing stories. Fights. Choices. Character development forced and chosen. Sigh. More games like this please! This is a wonderfully engaging game with a great story, fun gameplay, wonderful music, and beautiful art. I really enjoyed the different ways you can develop your characters, the different strategic requirements of the battles, and most of all, the really engaging story. It isn’t often that you see a game where the decisions really matter and you have so much freedom to find your way through a story. Favorite game but something glitchy with imports
I have replayed the game probably twice per installation per year. One thing that’s confusing is the name of import saves from BS1 to BS2 is confusing and feels switched. Like I just imported my save from playing through as Rook and choosing to sacrifice Alette, but the import save is labeled as Alette. Only way I would’ve known that the saved game will load as Rook was trying to remember what day I started playing which save. 😰

I enjoyed the game and don’t regret my purchase. The soundtrack, as with the first Banner Saga, is amazing. I continue to love the hand-drawn art and the unique setting. But the writing took a big step backward in the sequel. I was mostly satisfied with the content of the story, but the style of the writing was sometimes flippant, cheesy and generally much less mature than the first one. I’ll be purchasing the third as soon as it is released on iOS because I do feel attached to seeing how the story ends. But I hope the quality is back to the standards of the first one.

Compelling, thrilling, gorgeous
These games have blown me away, particularly with the top-notch world-building. As someone who always loved to pour over maps of Middle-Earth, Westeros, and Malazan the interactive map feature is easily my favorite thing about the game, just continuing to astonish me with how much thought has been put into the creation of the world. So glad I bought it
Superbly crafted. With lots of interesting characters and backstories, and a very cool and beautifully made world. Even the tactical tile based battling, which I'm not usually a fan of, is so much better than any other of its kind I’ve tried and I’m thoroughly enjoying it along with all other aspects of the game. Love the difficulty too and I’m only playing on normal so far. This game has everything you could want. Easily the best mobile game I’ve ever played.

Crashes Frequently [Update: Fixed]
I love the idea of the game, but it crashes once every few minutes for me. Occasionally I finish a battle without a crash, but usually I need to go back and make decisions and hear conversations two or three times before making progress in the game. I’ve got an iPhone 8 Plus with over 200 GB of free space, so I’m not sure what the possible excuse could be. UPDATE: I adjusted my UI settings slightly, and while I’m not sure why a brand new phone would have trouble with the game, it hasn’t crashed since.

Just as great as the first one. Beautiful art, music, characters, and interesting story. The only problem I have is a couple of the fights are ridiculously hard even on easy mode. The one under the mountain is really difficult and glitches in a couple spots where the characters can’t move. I had to replay that fight at least 10 times. Another hard fight is later on the bridge. I had such a difficult time with it, I had to put the game away for a month before I wanted to try again. And the ending was a little less satisfying than last time. Fantastic sequel
I loved the first Banner Saga and Banner Saga 2 is even better. I was happy to see that they rebalanced the costs of promoting characters and also brought more functionality to features I pretty much ignored the first time around (e.g. Training tent). While the first installment was compelling because the world they built was so rich, I find the story more involving in the sequel. There's a mystery at the heart of the story and I'll certainly play BS3 so I can see how it all plays out. Thanks for a beautiful game!

A Stunning Game that Does Not Disapoint
While it can be argued that the story in this game can be a little lagging compared to the first (some call it the middle story syndrome) it has a excess of lore and story that show how much the developers and community have put into this game. On the gameplay side it is incredible how the characters work. I have played through two times and found two teams consisting of mostly different characters who have unique stories and abilities to help you in your battles. In the end the second Banner Saga is a real improvement that very few could have predicted how great it’s become.

Fun, immersive and replayable - one of the great tactical RPGs
I play Banner Saga 2 on the iPad Air 2 and it runs great. The iPad is a great interface for this game. I love the continuity where characters built up from Banner Saga can pick right up in Banner Saga 2 (and into Banner Saga 3 when it comes out). Lots of variations to be tested and tried by varying and mixing combinations of characters, skills and items, especially in Survival Mode. Can't say enough good things about this game - one of my all-time favorites.

First off, it's great to see a complex strategy game with simple mechanics. The battles harken back to real chess like planning. You have to be thinking several moves in advance. Awesome stuff. Storytelling! RPG! It's all here. Take on the role of the main character, but even good choices have consequences. Betrayal, investigation, clan morale, and magic items are just a few of the wonderful things in this world that will engulf you. A+. One of the best games ever, period...not just on my phone.
