Description

Sidefari is a simple web browser that is designed to act as a companion to Safari. Sidefari uses a feature built into iOS called the Safari View Controller to display a "mini" version of Safari that shares many features of the full Safari app, like content blockers. How can this help you? In iOS 10.2 and newer: Sidefari features an extension called "Open Modally in Safari" that will enable you to bring a Safari-based window inside of other apps that enable ways to share website URLs. Why would you want to do this? Perhaps you prefer the convenience of having some Safari features inside the same app, or if you're conscious about your privacy perhaps you don't want to use the custom web browser many apps have. In iOS 9: When on an iPad, besides the "Open Modally in Safari" extension mentioned above, Sidefari shows as an extra Safari-based browser on the side of your screen when summoned to the side thanks to multi-tasking. Now you'll be able to have two websites simultaneously on the same screen. ** Please note that compatible iPads include the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro, or greater. Please refer to the "How to set up the extension" inside the app to learn more about how to enable Sidefari.

I love Sidefari on both my phone and tablet. It’s a great bridge for those apps that don’t have SVC support (I use it with Launch Center Pro and my Reddit app, primarily). Only thing I’d request is an iPhone X update!

Missed this app!
I loved this app in iOS9! I like that you can have all the ad blockers and such turned on and use this app to open webpages using those features in apps that have a built-in browser (i.e. Twitter).

App works 'partly'
App not working well for 'mobile' if at all which is what some sites devolve you too from desktop version. Still very inadequate for general use but has some specific uses you may find attractive. A message editor will also not pop up as in Safari. Side by Side was working better but the developer for that one seems to have given up and I removed it. I will keep this for awhile to see if there is some improvement in the near future.

Simple, clever, and useful
Sidefari solves a problem that becomes apparent after getting used to split screen apps on iPad. It does a good job of providing a second "window" for web browsing, while still using Apple's Safari view controller, and it includes a share sheet extension for sending a link from Safari over to Sidefari. Really useful.

Fills a critical role, but with a keyboard-related flaw
Sidefari is awesome because it uses a Safari view that shares state with Mobile Safari. You can have two Safari tabs open side-by-side on an iPad Pro! Glorious. Sidefari needs work because if one of those tabs is Google or Ebay or some other site where you need to type into in input field with a physical keyboard, Sidefari frequently looses the ability to focus that input and still pass keyboard input to the web view. Hopefully this can be fixed in a future update.

Thanks for this app it's exactly what split view / slide over needed. Safari is the only browser I use. So before your app 2 Safari browsers open at the same time was not possible. Also thanx to MacStories for the article highlighting the app!

The Best Complement to Safari in Split View mode.
Sidefari allows you to have two Safari windows side-by-side in SplitView with the same cookies, etc. You can easily send between both apps using a Safari button in Sidefari and a Send to Sidefari button in Safari.
